I had an ERPC 30.3.08 (9+2) following confirmation of missed miscarriage 27.3.08 (8+6) this was 1st pregnancy.

My 1st AF following ERPC was on 22.4.08 (24days), 2nd AF 15.5.08 (24days). Today feel as if 3rd AF on the way and only day 21 of current cycle.

Prior to miscarriage had regular 28 day cycle. I was wondering if anyone had experienced a change in cycle following a missed miscarriage.

We have been TTC again since end of 1st AF but no BFP. Finding it difficult to understand as had BFP after only 1 month of TTC and wonder whether the change in cycle has anything to do with it.

I was diagnosed aged 23 (1997) with Diabetes, but know that this isn't a problem as it is well controlled (latest HBA1c 7.0%).

Any advice gratefully received.

:hugs: Sorry no advice here but hoping someone who can help you will see the thread.

Sorry for your loss.
It is quite common for your cycle length to change after any pregnancy no matter how long it lasts. I've been talking to some people i know since i miscarried and they all said that after each pregnancy or miscarriage their cycle changed even if it was an extra day or less a day. The balance of our hormones have changed due to pregnancy and sometimes it just takes a little while for them to sort themselves out. I wouldn't be too concerned.
You shouldn't also worry about not getting pregnant again yet. It is quite normal for people to take up to a year to get pregnant, you and I were both lucky last time that we both got pregnant first month. I keep telling myself that i should't assume the same will happen next time. However i imagine that once i start trying again after first AF that i too will be getting frustrated after a couple of months.
So i guess my advice is, try not to worry what you are experiencing is quite normal. But if your concerned see your doctor.
Take Care
xx

Hi there hun,

I just lost my baby and haven't had a period yet so I can't comment on cycle length but to comment on your diabetes. I have been diagnosed with type 2 since July 2005 and that was in my second pregnancy. I have another baby since then so I have had 2 diabetic pregnancies and struggled to control my hba1c through both. This last one was tough too and I am still injecting so when I do pregnant again I don't have to struggle from the start. I haven't had trouble conceiving so there is no reason you should. If you want to talk about it then you can pm me, good luck ttc hun xxx

Forgot to say I had a ERPC too and it was horrendous being on a sliding scale for hours and I was starving. It was an awful experience so I know how you feel hun :friends:

Hi OWO

Sorry for your loss and thanks for your kind words.

My 3rd AF following miscarriage came this afternoon, even earlier than previous 2. Was hoping for BFP this month as being TTC ++ on honeymoon last couple of weeks.

I'm trying to stay positive but not quite understanding how I managed to get pregnant in 1st month of TTC and now not happening.

Hubbie keeps telling me to talk to the EPAU staff which I think I will do just to get some answers to my worries.

At times TTC feels like its taking over my life. :hugs:

Hi logibear

Sorry for your loss. Thanks for your advice on conceiving as it is always in the back of your mind whether being a Diabetic is the reason why no BFP.

I have really been trying since Jan to get my diabetes under control and am pleased with results. I think that you should definately find it easier to control your HBA1c now you are injecting insulin.

Luckily I didn't have to go on a sliding scale for my ERPC as I managed to keep levels relatively normal.

Good luck :hugs:

My hospital won't starve any one without a sliding scale due to the sugars going up when I don't eat. They gave me so much insulin and forgot to put up the glucose so I had a hypo and couldn't eat so it was awful!!

I hope everything goes well for you but it would be great to stay in touch with you coz I don't know anyone else who has diabetes who is in the same situation as me. Being diabetic and pregnant is sooooooo hard for me as my diabetes is so hard to control in pregnancy. Now it is hard as my body isn't seeming to recover and I am still injecting massive doses. Do you have type 1 or 2 and do you inject?

Hi logibear

I've been diabetic since Nov 1997 - Type 1 and inject 4 times a day. No family history of diabetes so bit of a shock really.

It would be nice to keep in touch with our experiences of pregnancy and diabetes.

Fingers crossed for BFP soon. :hugs:

your hubbie has some good advice. Thinking about it the EPAU staff told me to call with any questions or concerns i had. I think sometimes even if you know what medical staff are going to say, actually hearing them say it puts your mind at ease. That's what these people are there for, so give them a call. If not why not NHS direct. I found them so helpful when i started bleeding.

Hiya hun, i'm sorry for your loss :hugs: I have also had a missed m/c in Nov and a m/c in Jan. My cycle has been ranging from 29 days to 35 days, i'm also spotting for 4 days prior to af. Think its quite normal for af to be a bit messed up. By the way, i also have type 1 diabetes, i was diagnosed 5 years ago. My HBA1c is 7.4, which isnt as good as your but its not terrible either. Its such a worry isnt it! Let me know how you get on. :hugs:

Hiya funkym

So sorry to hear of your losses :hugs:

Your HBA1c is fine. Mine has always been around mid 8% but have been really working hard since around Oct last year to get it down.

Hope that you get :bfp: soon :hugs: and please keep in touch.

Hi Nat - you have done really well to get it down to 7. I found that i had quite alot of hypos when it was 7. My doctor wants it down to 6.5 but as you know its really hard to maintain that! I have also got a double uterus and the consultant seems to think that MAY be the problem but i doubt it as both wombs are the same size. Hope you get your :bfp: soon :hugs:

I went for my scan and had a blighted ovum and had a d & C at nearly 13 weeks. I didnt have my 1st :witch: till 5 and a hal weeks

My 2nd :witch: is just over and a bit messed up also

Hiya Nat,
Well I had my Hba1c at 9.2 when I was pregnant this last time so I think you're doing really well. I need to get mine down so much before I get pregnant again as it may have been the cause of my m/c. I hope it wasn't my fault but it is such a struggle atm. I really hope we can both get our :bfp: soon xxx

Nat,

First of all I am so sorry for your loss. I too am currently going through a similar situation. I just started passing naturally yesterday (5 weeks).

I am not sure how the normal range (HgA1c) differs from the US, but anything above 6% is considered uncontrolled in the US. I too have been diagnosed as early or pre-diabetic and I have been taking Metformin. Again I am not sure how the numbers may differ but I know here I want my HgA1c to be below 6% to show insulin control over a three month period.

I would think if your having annovulatory cycle they would be farther apart not closer together, but I am sure there is a time period after a pregnancy loss in which our bodies are just trying to readjust.
