Ok I posted yesterday about sudden onset if stomach pain and vomiting/ diarrhea. I'm pretty sure I had a stomach bug, especially as my sister has just been throwing up all night too!

But now I feel really heavy like I'm going to come on my period and I'm getting cramps low down in my back/ bump that come and go. If I hadn't had this stomach bug thing is definitely think this was the start if labour but I'm wondering whether it's just part if the bug??

Any insight?? I don't know whether to get my last few bits ready or just stay in bed and rest!!!

My contractions started like this on both occasions and the only way I knew was by timing them

Is the purpose of timing to see if they are regular? Or getting closer together? I should know this as it's my second doh! I just started timing the last couple...

Both I guess hun! :)

Remember too that dehydration can bring on or intensify contractions. If you're through the "active" part of being sick, focus on getting as much water (or Gatorade, juice, etc) down as you can w/o making yourself sick to see if it helps with the cramps.

I haven't been sick since last night and have been drinking plenty if fluids. I'm still getting the "contractions", I guess I'm just wondering whether they could have been triggered from the stomach bug and so aren't the real thing iykwim?

Anybody had a stomach bug that has triggered contractions, either false or real?!

I have an irritable uterus, and have had diarrhea (sorry tmi) several times this pregnancy and last. Triggers contractions every time. However, once it passes, and I get enough water/rest/etc, they always die down. If you have been well, and have slept, had fluids, etc, you will want to keep an eye and see if the contractions get closer, more painful etc. Also, the purpose of timing them is to know if they are regular, and if they are getting closer together and/or more painful. That said, you can always call the hospital and see what they think. They might want you to go get checked just in case.

i get these pains, i had them last night, told my midwife today and all she said was, keep a eye on them and if they persist or change phone hospital, could be a sign of something'

Unfortunately I too have had several days on and off where I have had the cramping, back pain and thought this is it, and it has lead too nothing.

It doesn't mean the same for you, time them by all means, but I had REALLY intense BH that were coming one on top of the other, they completely convinced me it was labour, then bang, 2 hours later they stopped!

Good luck

I've had it too and thought yes finally.. and nope.. and still not dilated. however might not always be the case good luck

I have been having this too for the last week or so. My OB said it could be your body preparing for labor, but who knows lol he said its very normal. Sometimes I run to the bathroom expecting to see my period.

Yeah ive had these too, unfortunately nothings come of them yet, just keep an eye on them and if you think they are becoming regular then time them hun xx

I had something similar the other night and downloaded a contraction app for next time which is pretty good it'll record how long, how regular etc so you don't have to remember or write it down. Just hoping I get to use mine soon!

Yeah I have an app! The pains continued for three days but seem to have stopped today! Baby feels really low though and I have the about to come on period feeling. Also been losing lots of lumps of mucus... Seems I have plenty if signs that labour is coming but it just won't come!!!
