My 5yr old daughter has a wart on the inside of her lip. She's had it 6months roughly, I didn't take her anywhere with it as I thought it would drop off. Anyway it started getting bigger, then stopped...we took her to a specialist that told us about burning it off with some sort of liquid, they told us it would sting her and leave that part of her lip discoloured...
Me and OH said we would leave it as it wasn't bothering her and nobody ever mentioned it to her (she weren't getting random kids coming up to her at school, anything like that).

Anyhooo..I've noticed it has started growing again, so me and OH are going to book her in to get it removed...
Few questions...
1) How do they actually burn it off?
2) Will it hurt her bad?
3) How long will she have to stay after having it done?

Thankyou in advance xx

I would like to know too hun, my 6 year old has one on her foot doctor give me a gel but it doesn't seem to be working. xxx

It probably will get frozen off with liquid nitrogen (I think that is what they use!) I had tons of them all over my hands when I was little - it started as one dormant one I had for a while and the same thing my mum never took me to the doctor because nothing was happening and then I had like 17 or something as it became active at one point and spread all over my hands on my cuticles and everything!

I had to have one hand frozen at a time but as far as I remember it wasn't that painful after the initial freeze. It is initially only just really cold and then it stings but after a couple of hours it just feels a bit numb not really sore.

I think the discoloration that your doctor was talking about will not be that bad - obviously its softer tissue on her lip but I think it will be worse at the start and then fade gradually.

My GP carried out the freezing of mine and I just went back the next week for the other hand once I got the first one done. The warts just gradually disappeared.

I know you can also get at home freezing kits but with the position of her wart on her lip I think it would be best if you take her to the GP.

Hope that helped!!!

What sort of gel was it - some form of acid?

Would it not be a verruca on her foot? I'm sorry if I am being stupid but is a verruca not the equivalent of a wart but a foot wart?

rub the inside of a bannana skin on the wart it should start to go within a week or 2 worked for me

No it's a wart, I asked if it was a verruca and the doctor said it wasn't the gel he gave me is SALATAC GEL...
