My husband and I are having a baby girl. We just found out and are super excited to be able to buy girly things but we rent and can't paint or do anything permanent. Does anyone know any great ideas without?

We got a bunch of removable wall stickers, a couple of paintings, curtains, etc all to match our safari theme. :)

I agree on the stickers! If you go to etsy.com, you can find all kinds of detachable stickers you can use! We found circles with different shapes for our zebra print theme. One of the them we were able to customize with her name.

Have you talked to your landlord? Sometimes if you paint but paint it back to white, it's usually ok. That's what our landlord is letting us do.

I saw some amazing removable wallpaper on Spoonflower that would be gorgeous in a babies room! I would choose one wall as an accent wall then add colour with blankets, cushions (on rocking chair...obviously not in the crib), etc.

My mom seems to think it is tacky, but we will be hanging a large braid fishing bet along one of the walls in babies room and will be hanging the monkies with Velcro hands and stringing fake vines in and out of the weaving to make the room a little more "jungly" like we are doing for our theme.

I'd check out Pinterest for some ideas! There are TONS of cute, creative ideas to decorate with! I also agree with Etsy, though I've found that the same vinyl wall decals are actually cheaper on Ebay. :)

Definitely look into stickers and cute little paintings or frames :) also hanging pretty fabric for curtains can help liven up the room too!

I'm also renting and have put up removable wall stickers for my son. We also put up small hangings. Had to put a nail through it but it's easy to fix when we move out.

I rent, but have pretty much a free pass on decorating as long as its not over the top...

I would just talk to your landlord and ask what your allowed to do... Stickers and bunting are great also.. I keep all my walls plain cream and add colour with stickers and pictures etc... x

Wall stickers are great, plus cheap and you can switch them out once she's old enough to have tastes of her own.

We started out with bunting and cute pictures but we ended up taking them all down because as soon as she was crawling, she was climbing and it was amazing what she could reach.

Blackout curtains are your friend, too. You can get some with cute bright patterns and they are so worth the investment.

Might be worth asking your landlord though, they might not mind you repainting as long as you're not planning anything wild.

I agree about the wall stickers and pictures up. Can you get some new curtains or blinds as long as you keep the old ones? Change the lamp shade to suit your theme, put down a big rug? How about bunting? I always find fabric bunting is lovely in children's rooms.

x

I would def talk to your landlord.

Our tenancy says no painting or anything, but we spoke to her shortly after moving in and she confirmed that she doesn't care what we do as long as it's neutral when we move out!

So The nursery has a huge tree and Dylan's new room will have a big surfer mural :-)

We'll just paint over it before we leave :-)

If you really aren't allowed to change the walls or hang anything, you could put a cute floor to ceiling shelving unit in there and fill it with books and bright knick knacks?

you could also use no nails picture hangers such as command strips to hang some cutesy mirrors and frames. They come off without leaving a mark on the walls in the end and you could take the items with you when you move:

Bunting always looks lovely too and wouldn't really leave a permanent footprint when you hang it.

Are the walls in the nursery painted, or wall-papered?

If they're painted, what color are they?

I agree with the wall decals idea, and with nice framed prints, etc. Also, you can do A LOT of bedding, pillows, and fabrics, to take the focal point AWAY from walls.

I love stickers and bunting. There are gorgeous stickers online (I got my daughters from EBay) and you can do an entire theme. My daughters is butterflies sweeping over the window and odd ones dotted around and now she is moving rooms I have got a beautiful owl.
I did find name decorations online which is an idea, if it's a short name you could have them hanging from a shelf. Another idea is a washing line style idea with family photos with pretty wooden pegs. I also like the ladder shelves which you could put lovely and colourful toys/ books on which I don't think take much to fasten them to the walls. Hope some of these help x

We're going to get a nice decorative roller blind for baby's room and landlord is ok with having pictures up so we'll do that as well. Otherwise I'm sure it'll look cheerful with nice nursery bedding and toys all over the place :)

I made some bunting and decorated a wall by stretching fabric swatches into embroidery hoops. Easy, cheap and we will be able to change it quick and easy if we get bored.
