We got results from hubby's sperm analysis this morning. Less than 15% good sperm and low motility. We are being referred to a fertility specialist. I'm crushed.

Anyone overcome this?? I'm so beyond devastated.

Hi! I'm so sorry to hear that! Don't lose hope, there are many treatments for male fertility issues. I'm sure the specialist will be able to help! GL :dust:

Thanks... I'm trying to keep positive and not jump to worst case scenario. I was really hoping everything would be fine. But, we are given another hurdle to jump over...

FX we get to have some answers soon.

I bet you will!! And for now, Google might actually be your friend. There's quite a few at-home things you can do to try to help improve sperm count. Apparently zinc is really important! And try to convince him to go commando in sweatpants or loose shorts when you are hanging out at home ;) There's an abundance of information out there! Does he take a multi-vitamin?

Hi there
Yes it is hard to hear the news for sure. Me and my husband had been trying for 4 years and the last year had tests, you can take extra vitamin e and vitamin c, but two specialist says there is minimal they can do, however the vitamins did help plus reduce alcohol intake just in case. Also standard nhs tests are not so good our private clinic reviewed sperm over 24 hrs so even though count had increased to minimum level within 24 hrs it was very low again, so really unlikely to get pregnant. We want straight for IVF with ICSI and have 7 very good blastocysts on ice and I am 7 weeks pregnant. IVF process was not that bad at all. Good luck

Thanks ladies! I'm going to do some research while we wait for a fertilityspecialist appointment. No hubby doesn't take a multi vitamin but wouldn't be opposed to it. I'm going to see if we can switch his boxer brief to maybe just boxers lol.
It's good to hear people have overcome this but with artificial insemination. I was really hoping we could do this naturally... I guess that's just not in our cards.

Look up fertility supplements like Fertilitiaid or Fertility Blend for men they help us the only times I've gotten a BFP DH has been on Supps!!
Also boxer r better and if he takes a really hot shower get him to cut down the temp!!

My DH has a Varicocele it can really reduce numbers and increase abnormalities u might want to get DH to a Uroligist just to get his bits checked out ;)

I know it must have been crushing to get that news about hubby's sperm, but in some ways it is good news that you have a clear reason for why you're not getting pregnant AND that cause is usually easy to fix.

It's hard not to worry about the worse case scenario, but the odds are really greatly in your favor since he was able to get you pregnant in the past.

Another good thing is your hubby is really motivated to fix the problem. A lot of guys are pretty resistant to admit that anything is wrong in that department and refuse to go along with treatment.

The Fertilaid supps worked for me and my hubby. We were trying to conceive our second child for 2 years. I had had all the tests, a lap, tried clomid and injectibles. Everything looked perfect with me but we still had no success after the lap and the fertility drugs we used after. I decided we needed to quit seeing the RE and we tried the Fertilaid as a last ditch effort. Less than a month after he started taking the Fertilaid supps, I started noticing significant changes in his "output" and other areas, and we actually got our bfp that month.

My dh was on the whole Fertilaid trio--Fertilaid for men, Countboost and Motility Boost. It is definitely pricy and seven tablets to take a day, but boy am I glad we gave it a try. I was pretty skeptical at first.

If that doesn't work, then there are other minor fixable issues that can be addressed. Stay strong and don't give up hope!

My husband has low count and motility. Drs literally could give us no reason as to why. He is young, fit, healthy. Testosterone levels all normal. Ultrasound normal. Was already doing all the suggested things (vitamins, going comando, never smoked, never drinks, etc). His results just got worse and worse each test they did to check for improvement over 6 months. We ended up going down the IVF road (my body wasn't cooperating either), but we also froze some of his sperm for the future just in case. We got our daughter from our IVF journey. I had to look on the bright side as much as it sucked at the time - he at least had some sperm to work with.

Wishing you all the best. :hugs:

Least you have something to work with. Your man prob will have to take some sort of vitamins to help boost his sperm count and quality. In the meanwhile, get a dr to investigate on why this is happening- and what treatments you should have to get that baby.
