Hi everyone,

I have just had the chromosome results back from my 3rd miscarriage and the baby was a chromosomally normal boy. I am devastated   The doctor thinks it likely that there is something wrong with my blood clotting or immune problems. So my question is, has anyone lost normal babies, had treatment and then gone on to be successful. If you were successful what treatment did you have?

I'm so sorry to hear about that, I can imagine those results must be hard to swallow. The good news though is that if your losses are due to blood clotting issues and/or an immune disorder, that's generally much easier to treat than something like a chromosomal translocation.

I didn't have tests run when I had my miscarriage, but I do have a family history of thrombophilia so I've been taking baby aspirin since the beginning of this pregnancy and so far everything is looking great. My mom also dealt with recurrent pregnancy loss (she had at least 4 or 5 miscarriages) and went on to have two successful pregnancies after being diagnosed and treated for an autoimmune disorder. So have hope!

Bananaz, can I ask you a question? Could you tell me what dose of baby aspirin you're taking? Should it be increased at all during pregnancy?
Thank you!

I'm taking 81mg a day. My OB said I should just stay on that amount until I get close to term, then I'll need to stop to avoid potential C-section/labor problems.

sorry to hear filipenko....

I wish I could give you some answers, but maybe it's time to sit down with the doctor and run every blood test again and get a referral to a fertility specialist for extra help....

am so sorry, pm if you want to chat....

best wishes (sigh...)

Thanks Sabrinakat, we have appointments at recurrent miscarriage clinics but my IVF appointment has been cancelled as there's nothing to say we can't make babies we just can't keep them. I think I'm looking at blood thinning treatments and things like that so we're holding off ttc until we have some answers and some treatment in place.

Hi, its sad that you have lost healthy babies. It really does sound like you have a clotting disorder of some sort. I think you should wait until you get answers or even start trying a low dose aspirin a day. My two blood tests have now revealed I def. have a clotting disorder so will need a low dose aspirin, heparin injections and also progesterone to give me the best chance. Luckily I got referred for tests after 2 miscarriages and found this out. it makes me angry that had they made me wait until a 3rd before testing I would have def. fell pregnant and miscarried again. Its too heartbreaking each time and so preventable. You will get there x

Thanks justkeeptrying, what kind of blood clotting problem do you have?

They havent even gave it a name , they mentioned that its antibodies in the blood that lead to clotting so I think its APS. They said that 10 and under is normal. My first results came back at 12 and the second lot came back at 11. They call it borderline high but its still outwith the normal range and thats when Im not pregnant. Apparently when pregnant everyones blood starts to clot even more so when Ive been pregnant both times its obviously been clotting too much affecting implantation and the placenta. The doctor said that he has seen people with results in the 20's which is exceptionally high so in comparissn to that mine dont seem too bad. The first time I miscarried at 5 weeks. the second time I was taking a low dose aspirin and it let me get to 9 weeks with a heartbeat so the aspirin was clearly working but just not enough. You should def. push for testing again.

filipenko, I am sorry to hear about your results...but I think there is a silver lining that they are on the road to finding the real answer for your miscarriages. Heartbreaking though, I know. I just wanted to let you know that I have a dear friend who suffered three miscarriages and her doctors determined that she had an autoimmune condition so that her body attacked the fetus. She has since had two healthy babies by getting shots (I'm sorry I don't know what kind of shots) that helped her hold the babies and suppressed the autoimmune response. I say you should ask for every test known and get a precise diagnosis so that you can have an effective course of treatment. At least you know it's not a genetic thing...HUGS to you. :hugs:

thanks justkeeptrying, it's obvious that you needed extra blood thinning meds with your second pregnancy, gosh what a difference aspirin can make. I tested normal for aps my score was 2 or something so I think theyre going to have to look a little harder. They're suspicious of a protein s deficiency tho and that's related to blood clotting

I had a stillborn son last June and two MMCs since. With my last MMC I was on baby aspirin (80mg) but that didn't help. This time I am on Lovenox shots and baby aspirin and I am 11+3, past the time that I lost my last two with a very happy sticky baby thus far. I am so very very sorry for your losses :(

Thanks ladies, so so sorry for your losses too, I really appreciate your posts. I can't sleep tonight I am just beside myself.

Thanks tisiphonie, it must have been a terrible loss to lose a baby so late, i'm sorry.

Did they ever diagnose you with anything? So glad it's going well for you now x x

Hi there hun. I just went through the same thing. I had the 3rd baby tested and it came back as a normal girl (that was tough!). Long story short- I had testing done and we found something called lupus anticoagulant. It makes my blood sticky and is known to cause miscarriage. Lupus anticoagulant is actually an immune issue plus it causes blood to clot. I'm now 17 weeks pregnant with twins and for the first time everything seems to be going well. I only made it to 8 weeks with the previous 3. I'm on lovenox and baby aspirin. Go for the testing and see what can be found. I wish you the best!

Thanks for all your posts ladies I read them everyday to give me hope!
