Hi Ladies,

Please could you give me some advice on ideal room temperatures?? Up until last week Ella was in her crib in our room but the windows in our house are so bad that our bedroom is really draughty so we have moved her into the nursery now which isn't as bad. She was waking in our room several times during the night, the gro egg said it was 23C (I'm sure it was colder than that though because of the draught) and she was in a long sleeve vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog sleeping bag. Last night in her room the gro egg read 22C, she was again in a long sleeve vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 sleeping bag and was still cold at 3am! Driving myself mad as i know the guidelines state ideal temp to be between 16-20C - I just can't seem to get it right & know that this is part of the reason why she is waking so much during the night (also b/feeding but only 2/3 feeds at night & possibly going through 4mth regression!) Would be interested to see what you all do with regards to temperature & clothing! Thanks in advance!

Ours starts at 21 degrees and drops to 19 after about 3am now.. LO wears a vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog bag and she stays toasty!
The temperature seems fine in your LOs room, if she's still cold you could add a cellular blanket too, or the fleecy type sleepsuits which are supposed to be warmer xx

ignore the guidelines. Each baby (just as each adult) will be comfortable at a different temperature.
Daniel was born in the height of summer. We couldn't get his room below 24 degrees. Now, if the temp drops below 21 degrees, he wakes and fusses. He also sleeps in a long sleeved vest, a sleep suit and has a 2 - 2.5 tog sleeping bag. Sometimes I even have to put a blanket on him.

Like binxy, Molly was born during a heatwave. She loves being warm, hot baths etc. Her room is 20 or 21 degrees. She wears a vest, all in one and 3 cellular blankets. Every baby is different and likes different temperatures, just like adults.

Yeah I agree with binxyboo, guidelines are pants when it comes to temperature and children. Tegan always cries when she's cold. We keep our house at 19.5 degrees during the day whilst we're out and around 21 degrees over night whilst we all sleep, and Tegan sleeps in a vest, long sleeved and legged PJ's and with a 10 tog quilt now she's older (27 months) but she had a 2.5 tog grobag until this spring

And also I think binxy might be right about the time of year the LO's were born, Tegan was born in August 2008 when it was very very hot and we couldn't get her room cool so she was used to being warm!

I have my boy in a Gro bag with a fleece blanket and mits. The mittens make the difference for us. With long sleeved top it keeps his hands and wrists warm and that helps the whole body I think!

Thankyou for all your replies, she was born in July when the temperature was in the high 20s so that's interesting about the time of year when babies are born. Am going to order some fleece sleepsuits today, see if that makes any difference. Hopefully I'll get it right soon!

You sure she's still cold?
My LO wakes if she's too hot, her room is 20'c and she's just in a long sleeve vest and 2.5 tog grobag. Yes her hands are freezing but they always are, her chest however is warm. If I put her in a sleepsuit aswell then she'd be waking all the time.

We keep the house around 19 degrees our room though heats up to 21 during the day as the sun is on it, LO was born in september and noticed the difference when the temp dropped so we added a cellular blanket ontop of her grobag and she sleeps snuggly (she also wears a vest and longsleeved sleep suit xx

I am the same as bethk, my lo wears a long sleeve vest and 2.5 tog grobag and our room is between 20 - 21'c. Her hands are often cold but her body is toasty. I am always paranoid about temperature but more concerned about her overheating as always think it's easier to get her warmer than try and cool her down.

Her chest is only slightly warm and her hands are like ice although last night the temp got up to 24 but she was only in a 1 tog bag and she seemed to sleep better. Am constantly worried & paranoid about her overheating and the temp is so hard to regulate in this house - roll on summer! Thankyou for all of your replies
