I think I might have asked this before but how do you pronounce Rowan? I love this name for a girl but I think I say it a bit differently than most people.

Is it Row-en (row like to have a fight) or Row-in (row like to row a boat)? Hope than makes sense.

I'm over thinking it now. Maybe I do pronounce it row(yourboat)-un.

Like row a boat, I didn't realise it was a unisex name.

Like row a boat. I've known one girl and one boy with this name and I think it's lovely.

I love this name!! It was my first choice, but hubby nixed it, he is not too keen on unisex names.

Row-Ann - pretty sure its a male name, never even heard of it being used for a girl

To me it sounds like a girl name, I really like it too. And Rowan like row your boat.

Row as in 'row a boat'. Definitely a unisex name and becoming increasingly popular with girls.

I think you've all confirmed my fears :haha: I say Row as in to argue! For some reason this seems to make it more feminine to me! (I tend to say row as in row your boat if I'm thinking of it as a boy's name!) I think that takes it off the potential baby names as I wouldn't want us to pronounce it one way and have the rest of the world call her something else!

It is a unisex name but I think I've heard of more girls being called Rowan than boys recently. Maybe the growing popularity would have put me off by the time we eventually have a baby girl anyway!

I saw row(your boat)an. To me it's male because its my dh name.

if you want row as in to argue how about Rauan or Rauanne?

au can create the 'oww' instead of 'ooo' sound like in Bauer

Row as in argument (same as the tree). Im scottish if that makes a difference.

Ah, do us Scots just say it differently from the rest of the UK? I was beginning to think I was crazy (or was just stupid!)

Just out of interest how do the rest of you pronounce the tree?

The same way as I pronounce the name, row as in row the boat.

Row as in the boat. I love the name, but our surname starts with W so it doesn't sound right.
