Not sure whether I should mentally throw in the towel.

I have one DC (age 2) - totally uncomplicated pregnancy.

5 months ago had missed m/c at 10 weeks (baby only measured 7.5 weeks). Had weekly ultrasounds from 5-8 weeks and each time baby was measuring ~5 days behind dates (and I know when I conceived as we used an HCG trigger). Saw low heartbeat at 6.5 weeks then strong heartbeat at 7.5 weeks (apx 150bpm). Doctor thought I was in the clear even though baby was measuring small still. Three weeks later they discovered the baby had stopped growing literally the day of that ultrasound. I had a d&c which showed no chromosomal abnormalities (normal female).

Fast forward to now. Last week had 6w5d ultrasound and was measuring 6w0d. Saw very small fetal pole but couldn't detect heartbeat. Went back today, 5 days later, and measuring 6w3d, so 3 days growth in 5 days. Heartbeat of 118bpm. Which is a fine heartbeat for 6w3d, but not for the 7w1d that I really should be (again I know my dates as I used trigger and then got bfp at 9dpo). I'm certain this is history repeating itself. Doctor does not seem hopeful and has me coming back in three more days.

Any thoughts? similar stories? thanks.

:hugs: I'm sorry for what you're going through. I'm going to be brutally honest and say that I had this happen to me with my two previous pregnancies and both ended as miscarriages. My babies' heart rates were even lower than yours though. My last m/c the baby was almost 2 weeks behind and it's heart rate was only 50bpm. My first m/c (which was before my son's birth) was somewhat similar with baby measuring a week behind with a heart rate under 100 except the baby caught up in growth and heart rate around 10 weeks so I thought I was in the clear but lost it anyways at 12 weeks.

Your baby isn't measuring super behind and the heart rate isn't super low so there would be a better chance of your little one pulling through. Sometimes these little ones have a way to defy the odds. But I think it's good to prepare yourself as well without giving up entirely.
