My daughter is comin up 6 months next week and I've been giving her some tastes of some purees but she's having none of it!! She screws her face up practically everything although the sweeter stuff isn't as bad (of course) I decided to try a Farley's Rusk but the flippin thing just didn't want to dissolve!

I must've wasted about 6 of them, so what I'd done first was made up a fresh couple of ounces of milk & poured a little over a full rusk....dissolved the top part and ended up with a circular brick in the middle PLUS the milk lost its heat so that didn't help. I also tried crushing it and made a huge mess but it turned out to runny and still had hard lumps in it I actually felt like screaming!

Any tips on how to dissolve these things completely without lumps and before it goes cold?? Thanks

I've never mushed or tried to make a smooth purree with a rusk we hardly ever use them

Is the milk warm? I would use warm milk and mush with the back of a spoon and see if that works!

My LO hated purree's as well so we switched to BLW but even then it took him til this week to actually be interested in food properly!

There's no real rush hun :hugs: Your LO will eat when she's ready :flower:

I don't have any tips unfortunately. While I was able to mash them with milk at room temperature (my LO is on special milk that cannot be made while the water is still warm), I've never managed to get it so that it is lump-free. My LO hates them though, so thankfully I haven't had to worry too much with them. I'm keeping them for when she's teething, and will just give them to her as a chewy thing.

Have you tried your LO on the powdered porridge? My LO loves porridge, so I give it to her each morning, and then give a puree for lunch. At 6 months old, you can give your LO Weetabix, although I don't think you can make it lump-free. And don't worry if your LO isn't keen on the purees to begin with; solids take a while to get used to.

Yeah the milk was really warm but it still didn't work, don't think I'm goin to bother with them they're full of sugar anyway lol & I didn't use them on my son either. I'm not too sure what BLW is, is that somethin to do with finger food? Yeah I don't think she's ready yet, I just wanted to give her a few different tastes for when she is. Thanks

BLW is "baby led weaning"; you can find more information on it here in the weaning section. Plenty of ladies will be able to advise you if you want to go that way.

to make weetabix lump free then you mix it crushed with the milk or water then heat it and it cookes it slightly and gets rid of the lumps then you can combine it with fruit pureefor sweetness

i had the same prob but what i do is melt it all down and add porriage oats 2 thickin it back up she lovesss itt
