Hi, I am new to this forum, was after a bit of advice about hubbys SA result. Basically it came back as normal count, 30% motility and 0% normal forms. I was wondering if anyone here had had similar results in the past and then when the test was repeated it came back much improved? The reason I am asking is because we seem to have secondary infertility and I cant believe how it could be male factor really. The reason I think its strange is that we have a 26 month old daughter together who was concieved fairly easily and also I have had 2 mc (1 was 3 months prior to DD and 1 was a year ago, after 8 months TTC) where no embryo developed so I was shocked by this result. Is it likely that he has been unwell or something and that has caused this? This is what the doc said and she says he has to have test repeated in 2 months time. Has this happened to anyone? All my tests are fine so far but right tube is 'questionable' so I am having lap and dye in April. Fed up already and we have only been having tests for 3 months so far!

Hey chick

We have similar although low count as well.

I know that lifestyle factors can affects results hugely.

DH has been taking Wellman, Maca (x2), Zinc and also stopped drinking alcohol except for a few at weekends. Also has upped his exercise, eaten a healthier diet and no hot baths - we had a big improvement but it took us 3 months to show??

Been ill in the past 3 months can also show up on an SA.

Did they say when they would repeat the test?xx

Hi and welcome!

I'm not an expert but I do agree that lifestyle can have a massive impact. Sperm take up to 3 months to develop so if oh was ill, had a heavy weekend etc a while back it could be showing now.

Like rachelle said, my dh is also on maca and vits. Have also read about temp, so not sitting with laptop on lap and also that mobile in pocket can be bad. Smoking, drinking, drugs etc also can have big effect.

Good luck

I dont have a similar count, we have a worse one but 3 years ago my OH had sperm to get me pregnant and in those 3 years its just disappeared :?

Thanks for the replies, well the test is getting repeated on April 2nd, the first was done on 6th Jan so there will have been a decent enough gap between them. I have got him the Sanatogen male vits to be getting on with so hopefully it will be more positive news in April. He is generally really healthy, has no hot baths, does loads of exercise and eats well - the only thing I could criticise him for is that once every couple of weeks he goes out and drinks say 12 pints or something and we have rowed about it cos I have told him its far too much in one go but he just thinks I am a nag and should shut up as he hardly goes out! Men.

In October my husbands motility was 16%. We just redid his SA and it's 40%. We eliminated caffeine and alcohol. I also put him on 2x the amount of a once daily vitamins in addition to an extra 1000 mg of Vitamin C. Seems to be working!
