Well, I am late in posting this (heck my ticker still has the ultrasound lol) but that is fitting because Sabrina was 2 weeks late! She is 5 months old now, but I still remember CLEARLY lol. I had been having contractions all day, maybe even the night before 5/2/14. They were not consistent though so I was unsure if it was true labor. Theyd be 7 minutes apart, then 5, then 4, then 8, then 7 again. They were definitely uncomfortable. After hours of this, at 6pm, I thought I would take a bath and see if the contractions stopped. I stood up off the couch and BOOM my water broke. It was pretty cool actually. I didnt happen with my other two and I always wondered what it was like, like in the movies lol. It was very warm and A LOT of water. We called my aunt to come stay with the older two kids and it took her close to 30 minutes to get there. My husband was nervous in the car and driving wild and I was like its ok, calm down. About 5 minutes later the contractions got INTENSE and close then I was freaking and said step on the gas lol.
When we got to the hospital around 7pm, they said I was 6 centimeters and believed I had a while to go. This didnt seem right to me based on how intense the contractions were. My midwife was not on call, so I had the doctor from her practice. Did NOT like her. Babys heart rate was dropping like with my other two. She said I would likely need a c-section and she told surgical crew to stay back in case. Those are like her first words for me! In any event, they put me on oxygen and had me lay on my left side to see if that would work. They left the room. I had a contraction and it felt to me as if the baby was trying to come out. I told my husband and he paged the nurse who just sorta said OK and left again. Minutes later, another contraction hit and I said either I am crazy or this baby is coming NOW. He called them again, frantic this time, so they agreed to check me. They were very casual about it. The nurse checked me and then all heck broke loose lol. She was like flip her over, hit the lights, get the doctor NOW because my baby was crowning. I knew I wasnt crazy!!! They really should listen to a third time mama.
With one push Sabrina Rose arrived in this world at 8:24pm weighing 8 lbs 8 ounces. It was a FAST labor as far as the hospital portion. In less than an hour and half, she was born. She was the sweetest angel baby ever. She is still a happy girl. My third natural drug free birth.
