Incase you didn't see my previous post I will bring you up to speed. At my 19 week scan this last Thursday, the dr noticed my cervix was short (1.5cm) so when she took another look it was even worse (.05cm). There was also funneling and bulging membranes. He also noticed some debri in my uterus that she could not explain. They sent me home on progesterone but didn't put me on bed rest or anything. I went home confused about why they didn't seem too worried and for the entire weekend was scared and uneasy. I called today and he pretty much said there is nothing he can do to save my baby if she comes too early. Hes not a big fan of the cerclage and wasn't sure if I was a good candidate for one. He also said if the unknown debri in my uterus was an infection I would have no choice but to terminate my pregnancy. Im still so confused and now horrified. Hes acting like there is nothing he can do for me and I might loose my baby. He doesn't even know how to confirm if its an infection or not. So I feel like I cant relax and get excited for my baby because I might have to terminate if I start showing symptoms of infection. Does anybody have any advice should I get a new dr??? has anybody ever been told they have debri in their uterus? please help im really scared :(

No advice but to please go get a second opinion. That is way too big of a decision to make without a second or even third opinion.

I really want one but I don't know how to get one without switching drs and if I did that it have a feeling they wouldn't get me in soon enough. I go back Friday for a cervix check and I don't think any clinic will book me an appt. sooner. labor and delivery wont see me until im 20 weeks

There are ways to tell for an infection. They can draw blood and check your white count. I would also go for a second opinion. Call a dr who specializes in high risk pregnancies. I would consider yours a high risk due to the circumstances. Let them know you need to see them ASAP and see how soon they can get you in. Let them know you are being told that you may need to terminate and you want to see someone else and get a second opinion before you have to make that decision. Hopefully they will be able to get you in quickly with that information. If you have to, call a few specialists and see who can get you in the quickest. Hugs for you and i will keep you in my prayers!!

I know what your going through and I'm sorry :hugs:

My advice to you is get another opionion push and search for another doctor.
My original consultant didn't want to help me she first said try progestrone injections and stitch but she wouldn't give both!! Not enough research on stitch in UK some crap she said. Anyway I got lots of opinions of other doctors and moved to another well named hospital and got the stitch and progestrone straight away.:winkwink:

I went to early labour at 17+7 and emergency stitch at 18 weeks. I had 1cm left bulging membranes and funnelling I was terrified id lose my baby either through no help or when the stitch got put in risk of rupturing membranes, luckily my baby made it to 36weeks.

Please push try keep off your feet even though they said don't rest please do

Also I got told with all my 4 premature babies if they come before 24 weeks they won't revive them so I pray and hope you can make it!!

There's a risk but I think either way all you can do is get a second answer bed rest and get test done to see if you have an infection

I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU ARE NOT IN HOSPITAL I WAS ADMITTED STRAIGHT AWAY

How scary! I hope you get get another opinion; a doctor who seems unsure how to tell if you have an infection or not seems a bit... distracted, and not an ideal choice to deal with your stressful situation.

My thoughts are with you, and may you get the the help you need ASAP!

Well I went to labor and delivery and they actually took me even though im 2 days away from 20 weeks. I got a big surprise when I got back there though... my doctor was the doctor on call for labor and delivery! so my 2nd opinion turned into my original one! I told the nurse how he had treated me and made me feel and im guessing she told him cause for the first time ever he tried to be somewhat comforting. He checked my cervix and said I wasn't laboring and then sent me home. Im not being admitted and he still does not recommend or even believe in bed rest. I wont be able to switch clinics for a couple weeks due to my insurance so I don't know what to do. I feel like all I can do is take it easy and wait until my next cervical ultrasound on Friday. I hope im doing the right thing. Oh yeah and i guess the debris were in my cervix not my uterus. At least thats what the nurse said my file said.

oh jeeez talk about bad luck. i hope everything goes well with you!! keeping my fingers crossed and keeping you in my prayers!

Demand a new Dr hun. Throw a fit if you have to! Huge hugs.

What bad luck your doctor on call typical :growlmad:

I know he doesn't recommend bed rest but if you've no other children and are not working etc please just stay in bed it does help :winkwink: nothing can stop you going into natural labour if your body is ready unfortunately it will happen but rest is very important I think so anyway :winkwink:

When I was going through my difficult pregnancy I read the massive post on incompetent cervix the post in this section and the ladies on there kept me going  they were all struggling and having a difficult time even they were mostly on bed rest and they managed to get as far as there body would take them.

I don't know which area you are living in but hear in the UK they won't revive a baby before 24 weeks so I pray you can keep going for a few more weeks your baby will have a fighting chance but for now follow your body and do what you feel is right for you!!! :flower:

Please call someone anyone regarding a second opinion or just a help line and discuss your concerns and see the outcome there are many support lines to call but I don't know which area /town /city /country you in

Easy said than done but try not stress too much I was told that it can trigger labour and that's the last thing you need.

My thoughts are with you and I hope you and your husband can talk and decided your next steps :hugs::hugs:

I'm so sorry your going through this. Hugs, wishing you all the best xxxx

How frustrating to end up with the same doctor!

My thoughts and prayers are with you - hope you are able to find a second opinion and make it through this tough time.
