HI there,

Not sure where to put this thread so thought I'd try in here 1st!

I'd LOVE to hear from any stay at home mums who left full time work/career after having a baby. WOndering how you find it. Do you miss work etc?

I returned part time in January and absolutely don't want to be there anymore. Luckilly OH can support us, although I wouldn't want him to have to do this long term! We'll get chuff all in benefits/CTC etc

I know I need to hand my notice in but I'm sooo worried about this being the wrong decision..... but only in terms of will I ever get to that level of responsibility and salary again? (but then does that matter if I find a future job I enjoy with less money), I'm worried about losing my identity if you know what I mean? (job role and title made me feel I had 'achieved' something, it took blood, sweat and student loans to get??)

I just LOVE being at home, taking care of DD, baking, cooking, cleaning and gardening. Never thought I would but it feels so right, right now.

if being a sahm is going to make you happy then GO FOR IT!!!

You could always do some online learning courses or even an evening class to stimulate the brain and keep your 'identity'

Or how about a mum's book club??? chat about a read over coffee??

I am currently on unpaid Maternity Leave but when that comes to an end in August I plan on quitting my job. Apart from not being able to afford the childcare for two babies on my salary being a major factor in my decision, I just can't imagine going back to work and not being with them. I've wanted children for soooo long and I was fortunate enough to have 2 at once. We wont be having anymore children so I want to make the most of these early years while I can cos I will never get them back. Sure, money is gonna be really tight but we'll manage somehow - we always have and we always will - and when I look at my LO's I just realise that all the money in the world isn't worth missing seeing them crawl/walk/say their first words xxx

:hi: Im a sahm and love it!!

Im so so lucky that oh can support us, I get all the firsts and all the cuddles!

I spend my days, outside as weather is great here! We have 4 acres now and plenty of animals, my kids are homeschooled and I write for a hobby:cloud9:

If you have the opportunity to do this I would:thumbup:

MrsRH - ooo yes, an evening course or online course sounds like a great idea to keep what brain cells I have left stimulated lol! Hopefully I can find a few local SAHMs to pass some time with too - so may have had to/wanted to go back to work.

Emmad339 - so good to hear I'm not the only one who feels this way! You seem much further down the road in terms of firmly deciding to give up work. I had 12 months off on maternity, then had to go back to work for at least 3 months as I would have had to pay back some maternity money eeeek. So I'm now 'free' to make the decision to quit. I agree with everything you say about being around to appreciate our children whilst they are growing up, I really feel the same. I've waited a long time for my little girl and haven't taken her for granted so far and hope I never will!

mummy3 - your life sounds wonderful and just what I'm aiming for! It's so great to hear you are happy, it helps to hear that you're not missing any aspect of going out to work.
