The dr called today for a conference call about Samanthas progress. I was supposed to go up this morning but my stomach is all over the place so in case I'm getting sick I decided not to take the chance on going.
Sammy is doing fabulous. The dr. is super super happy with her. He said she is the perfect baby.
Her pda in her heart is still open a teeny bit, but nothing that's going to cause her any problems it will close on it's own.
The only thing keeping her at that hospital at the moment is her feedings they started her bolus feedings today which is gravity feeding but her formula is taking so long to go in to her tummy that way they put it back on the machine over 15 minutes. So when they get her on full just hanging the syringe gravity feeds right to her tummy that's another check mark off her list
The next thing is her eyes. What the eye dr thought he saw last Monday wasn't there last Wednesday so he said her eyes are perfectly fine and growing normally but he doesn't want her to be shipped here just yet because he still needs to keep closet tabs on it. So on Monday he is set to check her eyes again and hopefully they will still be good and if that checks out then they might just start doing her eye tests every 2 weeks.
If she can start doing her gravity feeding and her eye checks every 2 weeks then they will ship her to this hospital where then she can learn to bottle feed and when she needs her eyes checked they would just ship her back to Hamilton for that and then ship her back here...
They turned her oxygen off again and she is doing amazing on just room air and feeding for 15 minutes every 2 hours.
She is also scheduled to have another head ultrasound this week or early next week because a little while back they thought they saw extra fluid on one side of her brain when both sides are supposed to be even. But her head is growing at a normal pace so they aren't to concerned anything is going on. He said if her head was growing fast then he would be concerned.
She is also scheduled for routine Kidney ultrasound because she is getting closer to term it's something they normally check.
So if she gets the feeding thing down in the next few days and her eyes are well they are going to be getting a hold of Saint Catharines hospital for a transfer I'm so excited omg!!! I could jump for joy!!! I think she will be home around my due date if not before I'm so excited!!!
