Saw HB at 12 wk scan After 2 Previous MC's

Dont know if anyone can relate to this but I had my first ever booking appointment yesterday along with the 12 week scan.

I have never made it to this stage as I have miscarried before the dating scan. I always got the letter from the hospital with the appointment, but never got to the appointment.

Well, yesterday was different. I actually started to feel relief as soon as I walked through the doors of the maternity hospital and a huge relief when I saw the baby and the HB on the ultrasound screen.

As you can see from the siggy, mine was an assisted pregnancy. At times I really felt like giving up but am so glad I continued and got to this stage.

I experienced two losses prior to my current pregnancy and I had my first scan in this pregnancy at 7 weeks. I was so nervous about it, I didn't get a wink of sleep. When I saw his heartbeat for the first time I was so overwhelmed. I also heard his heartbeat at the doctors exactly a year after my previous mc and that was very humbling. Congratulations and I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy. And I see you are due the 15th July which is my birthday.

Thanks Flou, It is such a relief when you seen the heartbeat at 7 weeks. just wait until the 12 week scan and it will seem so much more realistic. You actually get to see the baby on the screen and if you look really closely, you can see the heartbeat.

The midwives also inundate you with all sorts of pregnancy information, literature and websites and that's when it really starts to get exciting. You also get to keep a copy of your maternity notes from the hospital.

Set aside some time for reading after your scan, as they will give you plenty to read. I had my dating scan on Friday and have been reading all weekend

Congratulations, it's a wonderful feeling isn't it!

We had our first scan at 11 weeks and after a MMC in June I was just holding my breath until the lady said 'and there's the heartbeat'. Then I could finally relax and enjoy seeing my little baby.
