Scan appt!?!

I just received my 12 week scan appt - 1st July so I will be 16.5 weeks. That's not right is it?

no your meant to have 1st scan between 12-14 weeks..Id query this.

I just tried to call but there is no answer as it's the weekend. The letter says its the earliest they can see me so not sure how they will fit me in. Bloomin' NHS!

oh god...id hate to wait that long. Could you not phone ur midwife on Monday & ask her see what she thinks of it?

I would complain, my scan referal got lost so i ended up presteing the hospital they said dont worry we cn scan you up until 16 weeks. i was like i dont think so not after a loss last time and they sorted it and i got a scan at 11weeks 6days. i would ring them 1st thing monday

Thats a bit odd, as your first scan should be around 12 weeks for dating and stuff.
I'd book your 20 week scan now whilst your at it with the waiting times!

I think what might of happened is that the wrong month was entered into the system so they have me down as four weeks less than what I am. It was a student who entered the details on the computer guided by the GP. It's the only logical explanation. I will call them first thing monday and then follow it up with a call to the hospital. Blah.

hun you really need to press them about this; I got fobbed off with a similar scan date in my last pregnancy and I ended up having a mmc which was undiscovered for weeks. Sadly in some areas they are not unknown for knowingly messing up the scan appointments claiming they are really just that booked up and ending up scanning ladies really late but if you harass them they should change it to around the 12 week mark.

You definitely need to get seen earlier as it is the best time to get the most accurate date. If you are having the Nuchal Fold test done at the same time this can only be done up until 13+5 so it is important that they see you at the right time.

Also offer to have the scan at a different hospital or clinic (some smaller clinics/health centres do the scans as well though this is becoming less common these days) if they refuse to budge on that particular hospital being booked up.

the hospital near me is horrific for scans. I went to the midwife the middle of march, and she booked me in for an urgent scan, my urgent scan is the 14th of this month. I phoned them up, and they said they were so backlogged they couldnt fit me in before then, so i ended up going for a private scan to get my dates and to check the baby. I hope you can get this issue resolved. If they cant bring it any further, maybe you could opt for a private scan? Mine was £60 but it varys, im not sure where you are from, but just have a look on google or something?
I hope they sort it for you though, NHS are useless
