I am due to start IUI in March, and so had to go for a routine internal scan last week. I was on CD9, and the nurse said that either I was about to ovulate (which is weird because I haven't been ovulating until very late in my cycle) or that I have a cyst on my right ovary. She suspects it is a follicle because I am on clomid but told me to make an appointment for an internal scan when i'm on cd2. The thought of having an internal scan when i'm on my period absolutely horrifies me! Has anyone else had this done?

I don't think it was a cyst anyway, as I had cramping and had a positive ovulation test that evening.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received. Thanks.

I had a scan while on my period. It's not fun, but not too bad. Just realize that these people do it all the time so it doesn't bother them. Just take extra pads or tampons in case they don't have any.

Hi Sadie, yes I was in the same boat. I took clomid for about 6 months and when I went for scan on day day12 she said oh yr ov on your right this month and I said(cos I was tracking it) no I should be ov on left this months(alternate each month) and she said that it could be pco so asked me to go back on day 2-3 next cycle(if not pg) and get scanned which I did and she couldn't see anything. However when I went back the month after whilst on clomid to be scanned the other nurse said that she could see them again. I have been told that I don't have have PCOS but PCO not sure wether I still have them, if clomid made them worse cos I havent been scanned for a while. I too will be either starting IUI or IVF soon and have an appt with my cons next week to decide!
