Scared,nervous driving myself crazy about blighted ovum

So I went for my scan at yesterday at what I thought was 6weeks 2days. Now LMP was August 6th, but didn't ovulate till cd 19-21. So they only saw the sac and yolk sac. I've never had a scan this early and was expecting to see a little peanut. They said that I'm not as far along as they expected but then the other doc I saw at my actual appointment said I was 7weeks 1day! But wouldn't they see something on my scan aside from a sac and the yolk! I just about lost it and then my other doctor came in and told me that he is sure everything is fine and he expects to see the baby on the next scan on oct 6! I don't know what to believe was trying so hard to stay positive but I can't stop thinking about it and I'm scared to get excited until I have confirmation of a viable pregnancy! Please if anyone has some words of wisdom or similar experience please share!

Very similar thing happened to me huni and it really worried me as well. Basically I went for a scan when I thought I was 6wks or so cos I was referred by my gp. Anyways all they could see was the sac and the lady who did the scan wasnt friendly whatsoever. Anyway the other lady told me that I am more than likely just a week behind or something and that the fact they saw a sac looks good in itself. I had my bloods taken that day and then 2 days later to check my hormone levels were rising and it was a painful few days but sure enough they'd gone from 1000 ish to 4000 ish in the 2 days, which the nurse said was very very good.
I have my first scan on wednesday where I'll be about 7wks and 2 days or something like that. So hoping I'll see something then! Its a painful wait, but it sounds like something similar to what happened to me is going on really, you probably ovulated a little later than you thought like me. Good luck and don't lose hope! xx

Sorry you're going through this hun. What you see or don't see on u/s at this early stage can depend on a few things like the type (abdominal or vaginal), the position of your uterus and the level of HCG hormone in your blood. The fact they saw a yolk sac is really positive and I believe rules out a blighted ovum (though I am not a doctor!).

No worries, and the wait is horrible. I'm still hoping everything will be ok on wednesday at the scan, just as I'm hoping everything will be ok for you Don't be too worried about early scans though, as they can be quite worrying when we don't see what we were expecting. More often than not though everything turns out ok for ladies who go through the same thing

My cycles are32-34 days long positive opks on cd 19-20-21-22 thinking Eggy had trouble getting out the starting gate

Faint BFP 12 dpo but definitely bfP on 13 dpo

Hey hun, I am going through the EXACT same thing right now!

My LMP was August 4 which would have made me 7 weeks when I went for my first scan. They told me that there was no possible way and that I was likely 4.5 weeks which means I ovulated after like day 20. Which I suppose is possible and I hope thats the case!

I have another scan next week and hopefully there is a heartbeat.

Thank you I hope all goes well for you too! I don't go back til October 6th hoping to see a little peanut with a strong heartbeat!
