OB appointment today sucked. I don't think I'll be getting my VBAC.

I stepped on the scale at the office and found that between October 14 and November 9, I have gained 16lbs. I've literally doubled my weight in a month, that I had gained in 23 weeks. It was there that I figured I would give up on trying for a VBAC. The onset of the excess weight gain is the exact gestation as it was with my son. I began measuring ahead, and we know how that pregnancy ended...with excess amniotic fluid, and cord prolapse leading to a c-section.

OB came in and said I still have time to choose, but I'm following my gut. My gut says c-section.

I reminded her what happened with my son and told her this is the same onset. Emelia sounds good, so she said we'll get an ultrasound, schedule GD testing and go from there. We'll see how things are at my next appointment and if things are still concerning, we'll do some tests.

She then checked my blood pressure and said it was 114/78 and it looked good. Problem is, my normal is 80/60, so it was a little high.

So exhaustion, headaches, low back pain, high blood pressure, excessive weight gain...Google keeps saying gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia.

I don't know how I'm gonna make it through the next 3 weeks, I'm so worried. I've heard is pre-E gets to full blown Eclampsia, it can be fatal.

Hi there hunny, firstly breathe it's going to be ok. I have had pre e & eclampsia. Yes both can be fatal. But I'm sure the specialists aren't going to allow it to go that far. I had a eclamptic fit when my first was an hour old. They waited to long before inducing me. But normal bp was 110/60 it rose to 218/128 I was on beta blockers quick & slow release. It didn't do much. My liver &y kidneys stopped working I was very poorly indeed. I think they will keep a very close eye on you hunny. Try not to worry. Ask me anything I'll do my best to answer it. I have has pre e with all my pregnancies thus far. So I'm waiting for it to stick it's ugly head up atm. Feel like a ticking time bomb. All the best Hun x

Sorry, I meant she's not scheduling GD testing because I had a random fasting draw done around 18 weeks that looked fine, but never did the sugary drink. I've had a horrible feeling since I got pregnant with her that I wouldn't be bringing her home, and the way my midwives treated me, refusing testing and ultrasounds has me feeling like it's all Asher's pregnancy all over again.I almost lost him.

I figured given my history, she would have wanted more tests right away.

Oh Hun. That's never good. You can always say you want to change her. Just phone the community midwives office & explain you don't trust her care. They will change her for you. You should feel like you're getting the best possible care. Sorry to hear you had such a terrible experience 😞

I remember you birth experience last time (my own Asher came two months after yours). I really hope things turn out okay and you get a nice normal birth, even if it has to be a C-section again. :hugs:

Oh no, I'm not with midwives this time because of how they failed my son and me last pregnancy. I went with the OB who did the emergency csection.

I'll be 27 weeks tomorrow. I'm shocked given my history that she didn't order GD testing. My random sugar may have been fine because I fasted. What if it skyrockets after eating and that's why I put on so much weight already?

I might give a call in the morning and ask for it anyway, and explain why. See how it goes then.

I would definitely give them a call and maybe just see if they would prescribe you a glucose monitor that way you get some piece of mind knowing what your sugars are.

They can't deny you GD test.
Go in and ask for it.
My baby is already measuring 2 weeks ahead today i found out, im 19 weeks measuring 21. I naturally make bigger babies but im worried this time though because I'm measuring ahead so early.
What week do they normally do the GD test, i can't remember.

My office tests fr GD at 28 weeks, but it can be detected earlier. I think they test between 24-28 weeks in Canada.
BrandiCanucks, demand a GD test. It's standard here, & if there are indications that you might have GD they should not overlook it!!
With every visit, my pee gets checked fr protein (pre e indication) as well. Again, that is a cheap very fast test. Demand regular protein testing. That in combi with high bp is an indication fr pre-e. I really don't understand your OB's attitude. These are standard tests??!!
Sorry, getting worked up about bad customer service from doctors. Call back with yr questions. Ask her if she can assure you that you're low risk. You're entitled to quality care.

I think she just didn't order it because of the random draw a few weeks ago. But she doesn't know I didn't eat for that. My dip stick was good today, no glucose and no whatever else they dip for. I'm gonna start with GD, because if it is, I'd rather get started NOW than wait 3 weeks, let it get worse, and risk complications with Emi

Sorry you're having problems and worries Brandi. Bigs hugs and I hope your OB runs the GD test for you!
