im 39+4 days went for my scan today they said if the babys head doesnt engage by next week they will give me a section, im scared to get it, do you have to get an epi thing or is there anything else i can take

Epi meaning epidural? Then no the alternative is to be given general anaesthetic, i had the latter but not through choice, mine was an emergency, if you can i'd have an epidural as then you get to see your baby as soon as he/she is born.

Its not as scary as it sounds having a c-section, little sore for the first 1 - 2 weeks and slightly tender after that but could be worse, good luck

WTAF??

That is insane, my babies never got to more than 2/5ths engaged before i went into labour and DS 1 was 41 +3.

If you dont want the CS dont have 1, baby will drop when theyre ready.

I don't understand why they need the baby's head engaged so early. I think you can probably argue the decision to have a c-section if you don't want one. Besides an epidural, there is also the option to have a spinal block. I've heard that docs prefer spinals for c-sections. I had an epidural for mine because I already had it in place for labor so it was easy (though I did end up under general later, but it was an emergency). Spinal apparently numbs from the chest down but has a lower incidence of infection because it's not constant meds like the epidural.

Good luck. And don't let docs push you to do anything you don't think is right. Be informed, and choose for yourself and your own body. This is your birth. I didn't understand that the first time and I got pushed into a bad situation.

I dont understand why a doctor would section you if your babys head wasn't engaging? Wouldn't the alternative be induction or a sweep? Regardless, if you do have a csection, it's not scary.. the epidural sucks but it's just part of the process.. you get to lay down, pain free, and see your baby a few minutes later! I had an emergency csection, but I still loved it.
