So I wastold I have sciatica yesterday after limping into the doctors and struggling to sit down.

Has anyone else suffered with this or does anyone have it?

Any ideas on how to deal with the pain? I have been prescribed codeine which I have yet to take.

I got it after my 12 week scan, it was because how she wedged a cushion under me. I was told to move more than rest, walking certainly helped with the pain for me. Hope it eases up soon :flower:

I can find walking become a real struggle. I find that if I walk on certain parts of my heal it causes an awful lot of pain and I have to stop and take a breath. Its a bit of a nightmare really and only 1/2 way through the pregnancy.

It doesn't mean you will have it all through the pregnancy though, mine only lasted a couple of days and I haven't had it since. I find that pains and symptoms come and go so hopefully it will be the same for you XXXX

Oh, My, GOD. Sciatica is THE WORST! I have it right now and I got it early on in my pregnancy! It's horrible :( Sometimes I will get pains so sharp I literally almost drop to the floor. Would have a few times had there not been something to grab on to. Sitting, standing, laying down. ALL of it is hard for me now. I hate it so much, and sitting at my computer all day doesn't help. Walking does however. I take NO medication for my sciatica cause I don't wanna put anything in my system with the baby, plus Tylenol does NOTHING for me. But there ARE two things I do. One: heating pad. My heating pad is my absolute best friend, even if it only helps a little. and two...

Chiropractor. If you can. GO TO A CHIROPRACTOR. Oh my god, I have only had the money to go once because sadly I don't have $20 and 3 hours to drive there, get a quick adjustment, and come back . But if you can do it, do it. I called around and found a chiropractor that is very familiar with adjusting pregnant women, in fact his wife had their first baby in February and he gave her weekly adjustments. I went in, he took pictures of me standing against this thing on the wall so he could look at my posture and stuff because he will not do xrays on pregnant women. Then he gave me a really quick adjustment and I was on my way. I was at the point I was in so much pain I couldn't handle it anymore and after the adjustment I was very skeptical it was going to be much better because I felt like he didn't do much, but man let me tell you he did! My back hasn't hurt as bad as before since that and my pain was completely gone for about 2 weeks. I LOVE my chiropractor and will be going in for an adjustment before my flight next month. :)
