Culloden is a place name, near Inverness.
It was the site of the last battle between the Jacobite Scots and England in 1745/6.

Maybe it comes from that then, but the spelling is Calloden, so may have been adapted. I've been to culloden before.

Hmmmm dunno then, it's certainly not a name I have ever heard of.
I don't think it is a name anyone Scottish would name their child as it is a place where thousands of Scots were slaughtered, but maybe I am wrong!

Rory I like although I think it's Irish too but it's one of those cross over names like Rafwife said.

Also Struan for a boy, and Bonnie for a girl.

There's lots of gaelic names but some of them are quite difficult to spell

No I agree

i like Paisley and Ailsa, i couldnt really use paisly cos my surname is pickles hahaha.. but if i had a good middle name maybe. i think catherine is scottish isnt it?? i like morven but spelt morven not morvern..

I've just thought of one that no-one has mentioned - Athol as in Blair Athol!

I must say I really like Struan and Ailsa as in Ailsa Craig. Oh and I also like Clunie.

there's a funny scene in the film 'Made of Honor' where an old Scottish lady suggests Athol as a baby name, and the American guy hears it as A55hole... only in the movies, huh?

For boys I like Bryce and Connor, Girls Heather and Keelyn x

Oh I didn't think of that at all, that is so funny.

I agree.

All fantastic suggestions lots to consider, thanks. I need a name that is reasonable easy to spell. Euan has been a difficult one so far over here in Canada, people have no idea how to pronounce it and i either get Ian or Evan.

 I don't think a Scottish person would ever name their child that, sorry.

I suppose it's a nice sounding name if you don't know the history behind it but.....yeah.... I'm from near Culloden and Calloden is a bit too close for comfort.

Just thought of a twist on Culloden - Cullen. A dog near me is called that and I think it's a great name for a boy/man too. But then again there is soup called Cullen Skink - fishy soup. Not sure what Cullen means. Maybe someone else will know.

Any suggestions of any scottish baby names for boys and girls...

I named my son Euan and am lost to think of other names..

findlay for a boy (DH hates it)

Isla or Iona for a girl (DH hates them)

saying that he hated Euan too, and I got my way. I have 6 months to wait before ttc #2 and would love other recommendations if you have some.
I like Isla and I don't like boy's name at all:nope:
