Scottish names...

My partner and I are expecting a baby in 6 weeks and still haven't decided on a name. All we know is that we want it to have Scottish or Gaelic roots.

Any ideas? We don't know the sex.

Arabella is apparently Latin/Scottish according to a website (don't know how that works), but it's a nice name anyway! Eithne (Ae-nyuh), Gràinne (Graw-nya), Latharna (La-uh-na), Una, Sorcha and Morag are all nice girl's names with Gaelic origins.

As for boys there is Osgur/Oscar, Alban, Alastair, Finlay, Angus, Andrew, Hugh, Ernest, Archibald/Archie, Hector, Arthur.

I'm Scottish and my daughters name is Isla - it's short (we have a long surname) feminine, not too popular but not unheard of, can't be shortened to a name I don't like and is just pretty overall

I've been brainstorming Scottish names, too. My husband loves the name Freya (Freyja). I like Aila (Ayla or Isla).

First one i thought of was Lachlan, which is traditionally a boys name but i kinda like it for a girl to be honest.

Well we decided on Eilidh or Ayla for a girl or Lewis or Caleb for a boy. We ended up with a beautiful little boy and called him Lewis Christopher
