I was just finished posting this in the 'scared' post

"Hey girls, just to let you know the op went well, all fixed. They gave Jessica a general anaesthetic which she has recovered from well. (She was having a very large and (it turns out) a second smaller hernia fixed).

Jessica is having to stay in another night as she has a bit of swelling and has picked up a wee cold so the wee scone is struggling a wee bit. She is off o2 and monitors etc though she is just getting antibiotics in case it is a wee infection and should be home tomorrow.

On the downside, when they were intubating Jessica they said it was hard to get the tube down so afterwards they called an ENT specialist. He doesnt think its anything serious as he says she would have shown difficulties before now but he wants her to go back in in a few weeks time to have another general anaesthetic and put a camera down to have a look (options seem to either be a bit of scarring from original ventilation or another strawberry birthmark - she has one on her head and one on her back already). You just get to the bottom of one thing and along comes another! Better to get it checked out right enough."

Then the phone rings (I have come home to have a quick shower and get some fresh clothes etc before heading back to the hosp) and its a nurse from the ward Jessica is on, they have had the paediatrician look at her and they think her breathing is noisy! So the above procedure has now been brought forward to tomorrow. That will be 2 general anaesthetics in 3 days and at least Thur before she comes home!

I know in the grand scheme of things this needs to be done and at least its done at the same time and we dont need to take Jessica back in for another hospital stay etc but you know that way I could just scream! How come when you take your precious wee bundle into the hospital (inside or out!!) you never get them back when you think you will. And I hate seeing her like that, think I will just stick her in my bag and run!!!:haha:

Sorry if this is a rant, I know people have been/are going in for a lot worse things, this is just the only place I can vent because people understand (and OH's ears are already bleeding from my ranting!!! lol)

xx

Aw hunni you rant away! Like you said sometimes it's good to let off steam to the people who understand. :hugs: Aw that's really rubbish for Jessica but like you said it is saving a further trip in the future. That doesn't help feeling the way you do though. Keeping everything crossed all turns out to be ok and all this stress and worry is over nothing. Did she have cold symptoms before going into hospital?

Sending all 3 of you our love and hugs. Keep us updated on Jessica's progress.

rant away my darlin, thats what we are hear for. I hope Jessica is doing okay and i hope she will be home before you know, tell her you will let her have some ice scream and she will bounce back from all this xx

aww hunni. :hugs: she'll be home before you know it. in a way it's best to have it allsaid and done right away. It's hard on her little body but she'll bounce back. Shes a fighter!

Thank you ladies, Jessica is now home after a week in hospital. xx

It got worse from above! They never got round to doing the ENT procedure as J then caught an aggressive infection which it has taken them until the last few days to get under control. So we also have to go back in for the ENT procedure!!

Anyway at least she is home now and that is the main thing. xx

So pleased she is home. Big Hugs to you and Jessica. Rest up my love. xxx

I love this quote. I'm going to add it to SB's "third tri is overrated" as one for all us premmie mums.

Glad she's home and we might see you next saturday?

:hugs:

Foo, I fully intend to come but will see how J is come the end of the week as I dont want her still to have any infection hanging about and pass it onto any of the others. Will be in touch! xx
