How is everyone doing theirs for the evening reception, are you doing a table plan or are you just going to do a "sit where you like" kinda thing?

Also, top table wise who will you be having to sit at it? Aside from you and OH

Because of the hotel we have hired, the meal is in the restaurant which has set restaurant seating and tables of 2, 4 or 6 :) Nice and easy for us, we'll sit the folks next to us and we might do a plan for the others or we might just let the staff work it out which they are happy to do. With there only being 40 there is no worries about such and such not being able to sit next to so and so.

And for the evening, we are having a cocktail party type thing with just the same 40 so no seating plan required...........just how Pops likes, nice and simple

The last wedding I went to, the top table was bride and groom only - it was there chance to spend a bit of time together and reflect on the first part of the day. I thought it was fab!

I am glad you asked this as I have no clue and we need to decide asap! Plus we have probs of some of the guests only speaking Spanish.

We're not having a formal seating plan for the reception- far too much hassle! My SiL said that was the one thing that caused her the most stress when she got married back in October so not a chance am I doing one! The tables are set up in 10's and as long as I have a seat I don't care
The evening do is really informal and people will sit where they want and mingle lots :drunk:

we had a formal seating plan and it did my head in trying to work it out ! specially when people started backing out! i didnt want some tables with empty spaces!

We had a formal seating plan that was methodically arranged and after about an hour into the reception completely abandoned  At the top table we had us, next to me was my FIL, next to hubby was my dad's wife, next to her was my maid of honour, and next to her was MIL. Next to FIL was best man then my dad. It was all quite complicated lol. We had a marquee (a very wet one cos it rained like the end of the world was coming that day) and right at the back by the makeshift bar area was a little table and for most of the evening into the night me, hubby, MOH, BM and some other friends ended up there, having escaped the rest of the family. I'd try and do things as relaxed as possible cos the best laid plans and all that.... xx

We are having a seating plan! Round top table with Me, OH, Cormack, My Mum and Dad and OH's Mum and Dad.
The best man and chief bridesmaid are going on a diff table as they are siblings and we were worried about where to put other siblings!

We will defo have a seating plan.....Oh family will be put together and My Family together, then friends together.

Top Table will be Me, OH, My Mum and Dad, OH mum and Dad, 3 Bridesmaids and Bestman.

Ushers will just be with friends as they are OH Brothers

Im having a seating plan for the day reception - evening people can sit where they want, im already forcing my poor family to mingle with Chris's during the day - doing it twice would be evil!

we didn't have a seating plan but placed "reserved for family" cards on the tables closest to the head table :) at our table we had the entire wedding party minus the flower girls
