seating plan...!

im looking for all your opinions, so please be honest!

is a seating plan essential? would it work if i didnt have one and just let people chose where they sit? (apart from the top table - we would still have this)

what do you all think?

I think it would I don't see why not. We are having problems with ours as we don't know who to put who next too lol xx

We aren't having one!

Mainly because our venue is a hotel with a restaurant and so it is set up for 40 covers and can't really be moved so there are enough seats along the back wall for us and our folks and brothers and sisters but we are just telling them to sit everyone else as they would normally!! Suits us down to the ground

Depends how big your wedding is. We need to have one as we have quite a lot of people, and want close family members to be near to the top table. It also good for getting guests to mingle instead of them all sticking to people they know x

We'll be having a seating plan, mainly because the venue requested it! We just write out who we want on a table together and what they're eating and the venue sorts out the rest- eg where each table is, the table plan that's put up so guests know where they're sitting, etc. It saves hassle for us, especially as his family is so big and mine so small!
