Second Ultrasound??

So I just got a call from my doctor saying that they want to schedule me for another ultrasound. I just had my 20 week scan a week ago and everything seemed fine. I guess the doctor reviewed it and there were some measurements the technician didn't get, so I have to go again. The nurse on the phone specifically said that there was nothing wrong, they just wanted a more detailed look, but of course I have started freaking out a little bit. The next ultrasound is on the 30th, which reassures that nothing's wrong, because they would have wanted it done sooner, right? I had the ultrasound done in the doctor's office last week, but they are sending me to the hospital for the one on the 30th.

I can't help thinking that they're lying to me and something is wrong. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I would think that them having you come in on the 30th means that there is no rush = no reason to worry. I think if it were me I would call back and ask for more details just to ease my mind.

I had my anatomy scan today and they scheduled for me to have another scan early January because they couldn't get all they needed today. Its pretty common to come back for another scan from what I hear. Same thing happened when I was pregnant with my son. I'm sure all is fine.

it's really common to have to go back for additional scans. most times the baby is laying funny, and they can't get clear pictures of the heart or other organs. the doctor probably isn't happy with the ultrasound tech's pictures. i had to go back for another ultrasound with my first son because he was laying funny and they couldn't see his heart. if it was urgent and they were worried, they'd have you come in sooner. it's totally normal.

Thanks ladies! That really makes me feel better! I'm a FTM so I have no idea what to expect, and when they told me that I freaked a little. I'm better now lol.

I have to go back because they couldn't see her face. She was cuddling with the placenta with her arm up. I wouldn't be too worried

Usually when they don't get all the measurements they tell you right then and there that you have to come back for another ultrasound. They did this to me a few weeks ago my OB was doing the scan himself and couldn't get all measurements so I have to go back Monday. Strange that they would call you later on to tell u to go back. Unless it was a tech doing the ultrasound then when dr reviewed it he noticed things were missing? I'd call back and ask for details xx

this isn't true for every doctor. sometimes the doctor doesn't get to review all the pictures that day and will call back. i have a tech who does mine, and the doctor reviews them after.

It was a tech who did the ultrasound and the doctor reviewed them the next day. Plus they called and made the appointment for me, I didn't have to do anything. So it took them a little longer to get back to me. I'm not worried anymore, I think that if it was urgent, it would have been scheduled for much earlier. Now I'm just excited to see him again!

I had the same thing happen! I just had my ultrasound last Wednesday and she is absolutely fine! My doctor said they needed a better shot of her spine and a couple measurements. She's absolutely perfect!
