Hi all, I'm posting this in hope someone can give me a bit of advice please.

I had an emergency section on the 22/03 I was fine and up and about all week despite having to stay in hospital with bubs as he had a bit of jaundice and an infection due to the birth (I wont go into it) anyway we come home the following Friday and on the Saturday I was feeling freezing cold shaking quite badly then burning up it wiped me out so I got an emergency appointment at the Doctors he didn't examine me but going off my symptoms alone prescribed me amoxicillin an antibiotic it stopped the hot and cold symptoms and I assume cleared the infection however the wound is still leaking sometimes I just get a little mark on my knickers other times I can be saturated at both sides. (I'm not sure what the stitches are I think it's glue/dissolvable ones)

Apparently the leaking is normal and nothing for me to worry about but it stinks! the smell is horrific I bathe it 2-3 times a day I know I can smell it more with it being on me but my hubby has commented on it MIL says she cant smell it - I don't know if she's being honest or polite!! just writing this is making me retch it's that bad. I have a bit of a belly over hang but I try to get a bit of fresh air to it before bed time when I'm on my own.

(this is a bit of info on the advice I have had so far)
I have had 6 midwife visits and brought it up every time on the 3rd visit they told me I had a little gape but wouldn't give me a dressing told me not to have a bath just a shower and hose it down and not to use any soap on it. on the 5th visit a M/W took a swab to see if I needed a stronger antibiotic, I called the Dr's who said they didn't have a clue what I was talking about so I relayed this on the 6th midwife visit she called the doctors who said and I quote "pop up to your surgery, they might have a prescription for you but they might not"

I have been trying to get a doctors appointment but I have a 2 week wait!!!

The health visitor come and he said he'd sort out for the district nurse to pop round with some dressings as he couldn't believe they were letting me leak into my underwear that was Friday.

any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Make an emergency appointment today!!

I had an infection after my 1st child, it lasted for 8 weeks, as I needed very strong anti biotics, and they kept giving me weak ones.

Don't take no for an answer, get to see a doc hun.

I would walk into the Emergency room. it is not normal to leak that much. And a smell is a sign of infection. I have always been told to wash my c section incision with soap and water and to make sure that it is dry. I have a bit of an over hang myself and I would tuck a towel or period pad up there to make sure that it stayed dry.

I'd also make an emergency appointment which they can do same day. Don't need to tell them your reasons when you ring.

You don't want to leave a wound like that, the infection might become worse so you need it sorting ASAP xx

this happened to me. I went straight to the gynae ward at the hospital and they put me on iv antibiotics. I was in hosp for 3 days.

Thanks for your replies I have to ring doctors tomorrow at 8 am to see if they can get me an emergency appointment. So fingers crossed ill get sorted soon. :)

If you cant get one with your doc do it with your nurse. I had an infection and my c section had 4 holes and leaked from about 6 weeks after to 18 weeks (now been closed for 4 weeks!!!! woohoo!!!!) I did everything through the nurse and she was fantastic. The district nurses were great in the beginning when it first opened, but it was the nurse at my surgery who sorted out the different dressings, the antibiotics and swabs. good luck and I hope it gets better soon. And yes a little leakage can be normal but the smell is not x

I do recommend you get to an emergency unit. The smell is indicative of infection, and you are also having drainage/seepage. This is not an issue I would like wait and see with. Good luck!
