Is it safe to have a newborn around when you are cleaning a self cleaning oven??

sorry, when I'm a bit slow now, but when it's self-cleaning, why you have to clean it???

All you do is push a button..it heats up immensely and burns off all the goo in the oven. It takes like, two hours and generates a lot of smell...

Good question Frog. I was wondering the same.....

The self-cleaning ovens often emit strong odors so I'd ensure that your newborn is out of the room and that your house is ventilated. It probably depends on the oven but best to be safe than sorry.:hugs:

I would probably not do it when they are in the same room and make sure it's well ventilated. I can't stand to be around it, I can't imagine what it would feel like for the baby!

Ours is self cleaning-and I never thought about that. I will only be doing it at night when Colton is asleep behind closed doors then because our living room and kitchen are open to eat other.
I haven't even used mine though-it's at our place, which we are remodeling.. just sitting there-wanting to be used.. lol.
