Hello all,

Looking ahead here and planning for when I finish my leave (yes I'm planning!) and have no idea how any of this works!

OH has recently gone self employed and I'm hoping to return to work part time. However what are the rules on who can apply for any of these sort of benefits?

I've looked into it, but the calculator doesn't cover self employment so I don't really know what to put on this??

Basically we're trying to plan how many days I would come back, but obviously this depends on various thresholds etc!

Has anyone else been in this situ?

Thank you xxx

It's not any different to being employed from the benefits point of view

it doesnt matter if your employed or self employed your still entitled and the tax credits people are only interested in how much you earn, my OH has been employed, both employed and self employed and then to full self employment and they just ask how much he earns for each

^^ wss both oh and I were self employed what matters is the amount you earn not how you earn it xxx

Thanks ladies. As he doesn't have books for the previous year what info do they take? Is it done on the company profit? As obviously he won't actually have a wage as such.

If you are self employed then you declare net profit, if you are limited then you declare and salary + dividend
