When you are full term is it bad to try and self induce your labor?

?
How do you plan on trying to self induce? There's certain "tricks" you can do to try to bring on labor. They're all considered safe (sex, pineapple, curry, bouncing on a ball, walking). Castor oil isn't considered safe though, don't use that.

Yeah like little tricks is it safe to do it if your full term but not 40 weeks?

It's safe, sure. Your not term though yet. :P

Really though, baby won't come out until he/she is ready.

Oh I know lol I was just making sure for ahead of time haha Idt i will but I just wanted to be safe

personally, i KNOW that nothing will make LO come until she is ready... but that won't stop me and my wishful thinking from having lots of sex and eating spicy foods the SECOND i hit 37 weeks :)

I tried everything, even wth preterm labor at 32 weeks and she was still overdue!

Nothing will work unless bubs is ready, but it gives you something to do whilst waiting I guess!

I would say walking does wonders though! And sex helps :)

Nothing will make your baby come before he/she is ready :)
But if you want to give it a bash here's some tips:

- spicy food won't induce labour, but if you eat spicy food and go into labour, it will hurt coming back out.
- sex can stimulate contractions if you orgasm, but it has to be almost 24/7 to get the desired effect.
- injesting semen can help as it has a hormone in it than can kick staet uterus contractions.
- unless you eat 8 full, fresh pineapples one after the other there will be no result.
- castor oil, seriously do not go there.
- evening primrose oil inserted or rubbed onto your belly is said to thin the cervix.
- red rasberry leaf tea will help strength the vaginal walls making pushing easier - it will not induce labour.
- walking and bouncing on a birthing ball can help the baby engage.

But btw, just because you hit 37 weeks it does not mean you are actually 37 weeks. Its an estimated due date for a reason, so personally I wouldn't do it. Babies don't come until they're ready for a reason and doctors themselves only bring on labour when it is considered unsafe.

I tried all sorts of things to induce labor, like the other ladies said, nothing will really work, the baby will come when he/she is ready. Though I did have a bacon cheese burger and a long walk the night I went into labor :haha:
