Just curious, anyone out there using occasionally self tanners to avoid the bed/outdoor UV light?

I just used a little of the L'oreal Sumblime Bronzer yesterday on my hands to try it out and while I don't have much concern from the research I did - I was just wondering if anyone had used it in pregnancy before.

I understand that to be safest, just to avoid but really was only planning on occasionally using it here and there. There are no studies saying it is harmful but know that just because nothing is found, doesn't mean it is completely safe.

I feel like I just needed a little pick-me-up with a touch of color - but I'm kinda already feeling like the worst mom ever already for considering keeping a little summer glow...

Go ahead!!!!! My obgyn told me while I was pregnant with DS#1 that it was even safe (FOR THE BABY) to tan.....he said "now while I don't want you to believe tanning is safe for YOU because it's NOT but it does NO harm once so ever to the baby. And if it's going to make you feel better about YOU then I don't see the problem in it" he also said that self tanners are completely safe! Some people just go over the deep end with things and want to live in a bubble while pregnant.....he did say tho that he didn't recommend exposing myself to heat for long periods of time because temps over 110 degrees F can cause contractions (BUT tanning beds in the US by LAW can't reach those temperatures!) I tanned here and there in a lower powered bed with DS#2 and he had a double 10 APGAR and is PeRFECTLY healthy! Nothing wrong with doing what's necessary to keep your confidence and emotions up while pregnant! A happy mom=a happy baby!!!!!

It's fine and tbh when you feel bloated at the later stages, it feels nice!

Just make sure to do a test patch, when you are pregnant your skin might react different.

I used the exact same brand all throughout my first pregnancy with DS with absolutely no problems. Except for when I gave birth. The air in the hospital was really dry and I had all these things taped to my arms n stuff. When I took them off it left white untanned patches lol.

I am still using it again thru this pregnancy as well.

Go ahead and get your tan on!

YAY! :happydance:

Sounds good! Thanks ladies. Being pale and bloated kinda bums me out lol, would be nice for when we are going up north to have a little color and summer glow in my swimsuit, while I can still wear it!

Might have a coverup on me, just in case the bloating creeps up!

I just ordered some sunless tanner on amazon! It's called fake bake and had excellent reviews!!!!! Can't wait to try it!!!!!

I am so glad to have read this! I have this product called tan towels- they are amazing & virtually fool proof when it comes to streaking/orangeyness.. I've been wanting to call my doc to ask if they're safe but feel silly so I've just abstained :/ I'm gonna go get my glow on now though!

I use a mousse called st moritz, think it is a copy of the st tropez stuff but a fraction of the price!! Still havent got the hang of applying it without getting orange hands though!! I also like to use sublime bronze spray which is much easier to apply :)

St Moritz is the best!! I self tanned the whole way through my pregnancy. I've only stopped because I can't reach all of me anymore, and my OH hates fake tan so refuses to help!
To stop orange hands, use a tanning mitt :) They're amazing.

I use loreal gel on my faze and the loreal spray on my body... wouldn't be without my self tan :haha::happydance:

Yeah, a midwife told me fake tan is fine, but your skin may react differently eg your skin may be drier so you may go patchy :-)

I'm a St Tropez girl and am still regularly tanning two/three times a week. Boyf is gonna do the bits I can't reach when i'm big.

If i'm gonna be a fatty, i'm gonna be a brown fatty :happydance::happydance:

It's funny, last time I started this thread it was more "why would you put your baby at risk" and this time it is much more accepted. I feel bad because my friend who just had a baby didn't use it because her husband wouldn't let her.

My hubs isn't excited about it really but isn't going crazy over it. It just is so mood lifting to have a little summer glow!
