Serious concern for son's penis...please help, especially from those with boys

I know that this may be more appropriate for the toddler forums as my son is 27 months old, but this also relates to my almost 8 month old son too. Both my sons are uncircumsized as my DH is English and uncut too. I'm from the U.S. so have never come across any uncut babies and adults other than my DH and sons, so feel a little unexperienced in this department. Anyways, I've noticed that my sons look "different" down there. DS 1 seems to have a straighter penis with more foreskin, DS2 has more of a shape and helmet if you know what I mean...sorry for the details, just trying to describe here. My DH said last night that DS1's hole for the penis to come through the foreskin is small compared to DS2 and I definitely see the difference, like my 27 month old's foreskin is almost too tight, like I see no way for a penis to ever be able to come through a hole that small. I know the foreskin isn't supposed to necessarily come back at this age, but I wonder why my 8 month old son's penis looks more as I would expect an uncut penis to look. My husband says he thinks it's fine, but I'm still worried. My Dr. never said anything about it, but is clueless in the uncircumsized department as she instructed me to pull back the foreskin from birth, so obviously she hasn't come across many uncut penises. I would be devastated if my son would have to be circumsized. Is it normal at this age for the foreskin to still be fused with the penis and the hole to be small? Is it normal for boys' penises to look so different? I'm so worried, again, my Dr. never commented on anything abnormal, but I'm sor concerned for my son, I just love him to bits and want a "normal" penis for him. Thanks in advance girls

I do think thats the type of issue that could result in meeded circumsized but depending on the situation may be fine.. Maybe you should get a diff dr to take a look? it would probably only be a concern if it gets infected often or bugs him, all men/boys normally look very different.. Circumsicion kinda makes them all look similar while uncircumcized is a whole different ball game, instead of cutting to shape, its whatever it was supposed to look like kinda?

There's loads of skin at the end that totally covers the head with a tiny hole, OH says it perfectly normal looking and it'll be years until it retracts, they usually do that themselves messing as boys do!

It has never caused my son any problems, no pain, swelling, infections etc. so am hoping that maybe the hole gets bigger for the penis to fit through in time? I've read some sites saying by 2-3 it should retract, other sites say it can be until they reach puberty! So not sure there, because my 27 month old still is a long way from being able to retract, the hole is still small. Wish I knew what was considered "normal" for uncut boys....just feel so clueless

Same here if you are worried id go see a different doctor to put your mind at ease.

same as the other ladies, (i did consider getting him circumcised at his dad wanted me to but decided against it) and did wonder myself as all my boyfriends have been circumcised so im the same with u that i have no idea what is normal!lol. and i did wonder when he was little but i asked my mum (i have 2 brothers) and she said its normal and that babies foreskins arent able to be pulled back until they are older. same as the other ladies that my son has lots of skin and then when u pull it back a little there is just a small hole.x

My oldest son's foreskin was a bit tight, so our doctor prescribed a steroid cream that thinned and loosened it a bit. That wasn't until DS1 was around 5. Penises can vary in appearance and foreskins don't need to retract this early.

All men have different amounts of foreskin from being a baby to adult. Sometimes it totally covers the head with excess loose skin for others it barely covers the head. Just don't try and retract it yourself they should be just left to do there own thing for now

Sounds like my husband! They said he could be circumcised as a child or just see how it goes. He didn't get circumcised and everything is fine now xxx

Sounds completely normal to me. All penises come in different shapes. It will stretch and retract in time, usually by the time a boy is 6 or 7. I can't believe that your doctor told you to retract it from birth, that's so dangerous! It should be the boy that retracts it, no one else! Please don't worry too much. If you still have concerns maybe take him to be checked over by another doctor, but he sounds fine to me.

Did you pull back the foreskin (or has your Doctor)? I might have read the post wrong.

I know a lot of Pediatricians think you should, but if you research it, you're actually NOT supposed to.

Both of my boys are intact, and there's look almost identical, but, all of them are different so I wouldn't worry too much!

I have never pulled back the foreskin....the doctor didn't pull all the way back either, just tugged a bit, but his willy didn't pop out or anything. She told me to pull it back from time to time so that it loosens? She has never made it retract all the way, but more or less just pulled it back a bit....I haven't done so since, hope he is okay now

Although from looking online and asking here, it seems as if he is normal. At 2, his hole is small, but I guess that's okay. If there were any concerns, I would do all the non-surgical procedures first...I really really don't want a circumcision, it is one of the parenting logistics that I feel the most strongly about(not that there is anything wrong with those that choose circumcision). It sounds totally normal. And to be honest I would not listen to the doc at all about pulling it back every now and then, you really shouldn't touch it at all. I'm guessing as you're in America the doc prob doesn't have a whole lot of experience with uncircumcised so I'd be wary! Here it's the norm and the guidance is to leave it alone!

Unless there's discharge or it's smelly I really don't think you have anything to worry about. He can obviously pee out of it and that's all they need to do with it at this stage!

I agree with the above poster, your Doctor shouldn't even be pulling the foreskin back a little bit. It can easily tear, and can later on cause an infection, etc. It does not need to be loosened, and will do so on its own in time.

And the next time you see the Doctor, you need to tell her not to touch it.

Thomas is a similar age and the 'hole' at the end of his foreskin is tiny. It's all still fused etc.

His is normal! He's had his bits looked at a lot as he had suspected testicle issues (they are very ratractable).
