Im not too sure where to post this but i was just curious as to those who have given birth before, how long/how soon did you have sex after birth?

I had my beautiful angel baby friday and although im completely heartbroken i am curious as to when i can try again. Im not emotionally ready for another baby yet as you can all understand but i am curious as of sex xx

We waited 2 days after I delivered my daughter, but I had no tearing or scratches at all. ;)

Did it hurt?
How long after did you get pregnant?
Sorry for all t questions lol. I had no tears or stitches, good muscles ;) xx

So sorry for your loss :hugs:
We waited 2 weeks but didn't really need to, think we were worried it would hurt me but when we did it didn't at all! I only had a tiny tear xx

No, DH was very careful and gentle though. He was afraid he was going to hurt me. I got pregnant 3 months later.

We tried at 5 weeks and it was too sore. Managed at 6 weeks and it was fine :). I had a 3rd/4th degree tear, 50+ stitches but I'd had them checked and they were healed nicely. One tip- lube! You may find that you're not as wet after having LO (sorry for the tmi!), it's pretty common and usually returns after a while but having lube at hand will help!

Thankyou all for your replies. I woke up this morn feeling completely broken. My beautiful isabella is off to nnuh for her post mortem, i cant wait for her to be back so i can put her to rest! Xx

I am so sorry for your loss. So tragic.

Answering your question, I gave birth at full term and didn't feel up to sex until about 3-4 weeks after. It took me 16 weeks to have a period after birth (even though I wasn't breastfeeding) so I'm not sure I even ovulated then but my cycles have returned to their regular 28 days and I'm ovulating. It did hurt a bit - almost like that first time all over again which I was amazed at seeing as 4 weeks previous, I'd pushed out a 6lb baby.

Hope you get your rainbow baby soon and RIP to your precious baby xxx

So sorry for your loss!

First baby i had few internal stitches, didn't live with OH, didn't see him until she was 6wks so then.
Second baby didn't even feel like i'd given birth (was surreal really) only waited few days.
think got 3 weeks before you ovulate after giving birth x

Sorry to burst in on this post ladies and im ever so sorry for your loss Lauren. I was just wondering with the ladies that had sex quite soon after giving birth, had you stopped bleeding? How long did it take for you to stop? X

I waited a whole 12 weeks... I was really sore (and still am though). You will probably realise when you feel like you can do it again and then just take it nice and slow.

We did it at 5 weeks. It was a little uncomfortable and pretty short but the second time was pretty much back to normal.

About 7 weeks or so I think. It was uncomfortable! Thats around the same time I stopped bleeding I think.

You should wait until lochia (bleeding) has stopped. You should not put anything in your vagina, penis, tampon, etc, until it has stopped, otherwise you raise your risk of an infection. You should also use a lot of lube the first time and take it slow. Stop if you have any irritation or pain.

Just remember ladies, even with no stitches or pain you are still open to infections! One of the reasons they advise to wait until bleeding has definitely stopped! My midwife explained it as where the placenta is attached inside once that comes away all the blood vessels are open (where you bleed from) and sometimes they begin to heal kind of like scabs or clots and even when you are heeling anything can make it start to bleed again so always be aware of that your insides are open to infection so easily! Anyway 1st was 6 weeks 2nd was 4 I think? But I made sure id stopped bleeding at least a week before both x
