Happy new year!

I was wondering how long after your section did everyone "resume bedtime activitie?"

My daughter was born 5 weeks ago Sunday just gone and we've done other things just not resumed having sex. I was on the pill for 7 years prior to ttc and I have my 6 week checkup in a week and a half where I'm going to ask to go back on the pill.

My partner has tried it on a few times and I feel really bad because I'm just not in the mood, before I was pregnant it was usually the other way round and my sex drive is usually very high.

I'm worried about falling pregnant again without being on the pill, I don't like condoms as in the past they've split and I know that sometimes when you're in the mood they just aren't used.

Also I just don't feel attractive at all. I don't like my husbands hands anywhere near my scar and my belly feels strange when he touches is because its numb, it makes me tense up. I don't like my stomach period as although I've naturally gone back down to my pre pregnancy clothes (still 1 stone off my pre pregnancy weight) my stomach is wrinkley.

To make matters worse when I went to get measured for new bras, the woman asked me if I was pregnant! Complete confidence blow.

I know my husband finds me attractive but I just feel low in confidence , which is something I've never been bothered about before.

Has anyone else felt this way?

Xx

hi

I am also interested in knowing the answer to the sex question lol but I was going to wait until the 6 week point as long as I feel comfortable. I've read you shouldn't have unprotected sex before the 6 week recovery time because of infection risk but not sure how accurate that info is, though it seems to make sense to me!

As for the body image issues, I have the same thing... I cover my belly with clothing, towels, what ever I can find so that my partner can't see it. I feel awful about it, it like sags a bit, though it looks better than it did (I had my EMCS 2 weeks ago). My belly is also covered in some serious stretch marks! I really hope it goes back to some normal state but I don't know how long that takes and stuff :-s

I think we did after about 3 weeks. As 'nothing' had happened to me down there due to having the c-section (e.g no labour beforehand) , the decision was a little easier. I had stopped bleeding by then too.

It was three weeks for me, too, with my older daughter. It felt a little different but not painful or anything. I had my drive back by then and I was done bleeding by the time I left the hospital so I was good to go. I probably would have done it sooner if my husband hadn't been paranoid. With my younger daughter we waited until about 4.5 weeks but that's because I had a 1 year old and a newborn. I was TIRED. Haha!

It was a week for me. We just felt ready for some intimacy. We were told that you are not fertile for the first three weeks after giving birth.

I got told that I'm most fertile now at my midwife sign off?

I've only just stopped bleeding this week. I tried to make myself feel better today by pampering myself a little whilst I had a spare hour.

Did anyone get a wrinkled tummy and did it go back to normal? I've been using cocoa butter daily hoping that that may help.

Xx

It was only the first three weeks that the hospital said I wasn't fertile.
After this time we used protection.

When I went to see the nurse for my 8 week check she had said breast feeding reduces fertility, the doctor who put in the contraceptive implant wanted to do a pregnancy test.

I think there are different views on it - but it's always better to be safe than sorry! :)

My husband and i waited 9 days. My son is now 9 months old and I'm just now getting my sex drove back. My stomach still doesn't look right but is getting better.i have just started doing pilaties so we'll see.

hi,well ive had 10 normal births then a emcs so i already had a bit of a belly, lol the only thing ive noticed is that where the cs was done they did it very neat and tight so that i have a overhang of fat,lol but i was told this is very common and also same as you its numb,a friend of mine said hers is still like this a few years later so it dosent worry me ,i just had sex as soon as i could be bothered, lol just to check and get it out the way, it was fine just try not to let him lie to hard on your tummy, also i have never got pregnant whilst breastfeeding, but i stopped with this baby around 4months had 1 cycle and bam im pregnant again completley out the blue as i didnt plan any more and we only dtd twice ,strange really when i think back that for my last 3 babys that were planned i charted took ac etc etc and it still took over a year this time nothing and bam,so i would be slightly careful on the fertility side as i have learnt.i do wonder if having a cs could possibly make you more fertile as when you think about it everything is manually removed a bit like a d&c when can often boost fertility,my bleeding after this baby was also lighter and shorter,i think again due to the cs,just my story, good luck.xx also dont worry about your tummy honestly it does improve even me with a fat tummy to start with has noticed a difference, lol.xx

LDC we had our babies at the same time and dh and i havent dtd yet. I feel exactly the same way as you and until I can get to the dr and get contraception sorted I won't be! I don't trust condoms!

4 weeks pp we tried it was a little sore so we left it. We tried again at 5 weeks and it still hurt but at almost 6 weeks pp it was brilliant! Totally back to normal!!

Sex before your lochia has stopped is not recommended regardless of weather you had a vaginal or section delivery.

8 days 1st C, 10 days second.

If your not on bc right after or don't like/trust condoms, why not just have him pullout??

Unlike the one poster who had a c after 10 vag births, my periods have been opposite. They are just ridiculously heavy and bloody! Hope they go back to normal, but very well may not!

Wow, you all are keen! :haha:

I'm on the opposite side of the scale - my son is 17 weeks old and::::: still no action. It's a real combination of things: I don't like the way I look, and it still feels 'weird' down there - and I'm a bit paranoid about that... but also just tiredness, lack of sex drive, being consumed with trying to be a good mummy... just generally not feeling reMOTEly sexy or up for it! Luckily my DH is understanding and quite able to take care of himself :haha: but I'm thinking I'm going to have to bite the bullet soon, for his sake!

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I managed to get some contraception when I went for my six week check so I am hoping all can resume if I feel a little more settled in my mind.

I won't use the pullout method as its not reliable, you can still get pregnant from precum.

Googly I could have pretty much written your response myself!! I am hoping that everything feels "normal" when we do 'do it' and that nothing has changed. Also fingers crossed its a bit like Pringles, once you pop you just can't stop!!

I think it's difficult as OH works different shifts each week and each day, so he has no set schedule. It makes it difficult with LO not sleeping through the night so I'm exhausted, it WILL happen though and soon!

Xx

We dtd at 3 weeks post elective section, slightly nervous about pain which distracted us to the point we forgot to use contraception :-(

How embarrassed was I at the chemist with my prescription for the morning after pill with a 3 week old baby in the pram!

You would think that at the age of 31, I would have known that, too. But I am now 32 weeks pregnant after having used the "Nah, I won't get pregnant from precum" logic. Yes, yes you can. And people do. I am living proof. :haha:

Very happy about it, but still...quite unexpected.

Anyway, I had an EMCS 5 years ago. I didn't do anything due to a combination of factors for 12 weeks. I bled for a very long time, too. I felt really strange and had the wrinkly thing, so I wasn't much into it anyway. I gained an insane amount of weight that time, so I had to work VERY hard to get the wrinkles under control. After 5 years, they were just starting to look pretty good when I got pregnant again. But that's ok, because I've only gained half the weight this time I did last time, which has managed to spare me a few stretch marks :happydance:

I went into labour on my own and got to 8cm but ended up having an emergency c-section, we had sex three weeks after my section and it was bloody amazing :cloud9:
although we were both very drunk and i was feeling it that night, otherwise if we were sober i doubt i would have done it  xx

hmm, well he either doesn't precum,or has excellent control, because we've never been on bc..besides condoms in the beginning, and using pull-out and our 2 kids were planned, and no scares in 7 yrs.

DH and i were in the mood as we wernt physical for a while whilst i was pregnant.... we done it 3 weeks after my section but was very careful!!

My scar wasnt tender and it was healing quite well but we used a condom and was very very careful due to still being fertile
