Sex before a hysteroscopy??

Hello ladies,

My docs made it very clear that I was not to BD before my HSG & said it should be before ovulation etc. when they were booking in my hysteroscopy they were very laid back and said it can be any time of the month. This meant I didn't ask the all important question! Now I know it will be day 18 when they go in so I'm thinking I'll use contraception between now and then. Or should I just go without BDing full stop??

What did your docs say??

my doc said no BD full stop but I had mine on CD5 so it was not that hard

Thanks Briss. How did you find it? Were you under general anaesthetic? I'm getting a bit anxious about it now that it's only 2 weeks away. I was like this before my HSG & I ended up laughing when I was in there as it was so painless & i'd been so worked up! X

I believe we were to abstain from sex 5 days prior. And 2 weeks after surgery, so my incisions could properly heal.

yes I was under general anaesthetic cos I had Lap&Dye at the same time as hysteroscopy but mine did not go that well, I got an infection which was left untreated for a week before I figured out what was going on and went to GP for antibiotics and my cycles became abnormal ever since I had this procedure done. Overall I am not happy about it but from what I see majority of ladies get really good results and improve their chances after this. We were allowed to BD straight after but because I was in pain (from the infection) we could not.

Oh no, that's awful! I wish it was tomorrow so that I could just get it over and done with!

I have my hycosy 1 week before you on 21/05/12! I will be on CD 12 and I have been told not to have sex at all - both by the nurse and in the literature that they sent.
