After the birth of my daughter, sex was pretty painful. Some of the tearing / irritation did not heal right away.
After a few months, it was still painful and I thought back an advice my midwife gave me months earlier, and finally followed it. My midwife told me to get some vitamin E capsules (the gel ones with liquid inside), take the liquid out and rub it on the skin that was painful. I could not find those capsules, but instead I found some vitamin E oil (not skin cream... it's really just vitamin E in oil) and used that.
I don't know if it's just a coincidence and I was due to heal, but I have no more pain.
I just thought I would share it for those new moms who might be in the same boat. In doubt, ask your doctor. And in any case, follow product instructions (it's for external use only, so no using it inside). But it's worth a try.
