We fell pregnant in cycle 6, after a long few months of being unsure whether I would have problems conceiving. I have a tumour on my pituitary gland, which causes infertility if not treated. I've been treated for it for several years, but the medication you take may cause miscarriage, so you have to ideally catch a pregnancy super-early and stop taking the meds immediately - stressful! As soon as we started trying, we dtd every other day, and I always put a pillow under my hips and lay with my legs in the air for at least half an hour.
I'd bought an excellent book, 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility', which gave me a much clearer idea of when in my cycle I was ovulating and how to spot it without the ovulation tests. I figured out I was ovulating later than I'd thought, and my luteal phase was only 7-9 days long, so not long enough for a fertilised egg to bed in. I know in the UK you have to have been ttc for a year or so before doctors will give you any real help (I'm in my mid-twenties) so I thought I might as well try soy isoflavones in an effort to stimulate ovulation earlier, and give myself a longer luteal phase. We fell pregnant the first month we tried them!
I'd taken soy days 3-7, but we'd definitely dtd less that month than previous months - in fact I thought I had no chance at all and was def out. The month before I threw a big baby shower for my best friend, which was so hard - seeing her 7 months pregnant and glowing was so bittersweet for me, not knowing whether I'd be able to have children or not - so I was a bit despondent that month. But maybe my dh storing it up a bit longer did the trick?! After dtd I still did the pillow thing.
I'm not sure whether one specific thing worked over another, but my gut feeling is the soy really helped. Whether it might help each individual depends on how your cycle works, so I found learning how to interpret my body's signals for ovulation etc really helped me too.
Best of luck to you in your journey hun!! xx
