Ok, so I'm not usually the type to worry too much but this has been irritating me for the last couple of days. I'm getting random sharp pains in my abdomen (like sharp cramps), but they don't stick around very long. The pains tend to move and aren't just in one place (though do tend to be on the right), so I know that it's likely not ectopic but it still concerns me. Sometimes when I go #2 (tmi) it happens, not frequently, and sometimes when I urinate it happens, so I almost wonder if part of this is due to a UTI.

I meet with my ob on Monday but there won't be a scan. The nurse did tell me that when she does her exam though she'll be checking my tubes somehow to see if it may be ectopic or not and that's just typical practice. The nurse actually scared me a good amount though, she kept telling me about risks of miscarriage and that it could be ectopic without me even saying anything to her about the subject! She told me that because it was my first pregnancy (have had no m/c's or chemicals either that I'm aware) that I was at a higher risk.

Is anyone having these pains or have you experienced these pains in previous pregnancies? I'm hoping it's just gas, but it's all annoying and makes me wish I had my own home ultrasound system so I could put my mind at ease. :dohh:

i did but coz i wasnt goin to the toilet properly (number2 ) lol sorry for tmi xx

When I was newly pregnant about 6 weeks I went in for a scan and they found a cyst on my right ovary. I just begged them give me a ultra sound, it was worth it for my own peace of mind. I have had cramping though even after the cyst has gone randomly, the nurse and doctor say it is fine unless the pain is severe and/or is accompanied by bleeding.

Thanks so much! :) That's what I thought it might be, a cyst. In order to get a scan I may need to go to the hospital and over dramatize the situation, but I have my ob appointment on Monday so I'll try and get a referral or have her do it there since it will be for medical reasons. I really hope everything is alright, I feel like I'm becoming neurotic. :haha:

The cyst is likely your corpeus luteum (which had been the follicle you ovulated from). It can hurt from time to time but is nothing to worry about; in fact its doing its job! It's also normal to feel little uterine twinges/zings as your uterus begins to stretch.
