Sigh.

Its one thing after another with this girl when it comes to food! Its been a a rollercoaster just getting her to eat these last couple of months. She is the WORLD'S pickiest eater. And I'm not just saying that, she will only eat a handful of things. And one day she likes it, the next she doesn't! I don't know where I went wrong, I've offered a TON of different things from the day we first started weaning her at six months so why doesn't she like ANYTHING!?

Ugh.

But that's not what this post is about. Over the last few weeks, my daughter has decided she doesn't like her high chair anymore. Every time I try to put the tray on, she screams and pushes it away. If I finally manage to get it on she will scream and not eat a single thing. I've tried leaving the tray off and pulling the high chair up to the table but our table is an awkward height so can't get her close enough. Today I sat on the couch and hand fed her her dinner but I don't want that to become a habit because I don't want her thinking she can eat wherever she pleases. We're a family that eats at the table for every meal, no exceptions.

I'm soo frustrated, idk what to do anymore. I'm already at the end of my tether with her refusing pretty much EVERY THING I give her, and now the high chair thing. :/

Heeellllpppp!

You could try getting a booster seat for her to sit on at the table and eat with her? I think its always good to role model where possible good food habits and eating nicely the same thing, or if you can't eat together would she like her own little table and chair? Gives her a bit more freedom and independence to eating if it can be a bit of a battle.. maybe being strapped in sparks it off?

Wouldn't she still be too small for a booster seat though? I do eat at the table with her, and I've also tried not sitting with her.
I've thought about getting a toddler sized table and chairs. We were already going to get one for Christmas but am seriously thinking about getting it like NOW. The only thing I'm worried about is her getting up and down because she would have that freedom. How do you teach them to stay sitting at the table?

We have the same problem with the high chair, so I bought this. She loves sitting up at the big table with us. Saved me a bit money too. I thought I'd have to buy a high chair for my son too, but with Lily using this, Connor can just have her high chair when he's big enough to go in it. X

Ps excuse the sideways pic.. No idea why my photos go sideways on here :S

Booster seat, Argos do 2 of them i'd go for the multi coloured one which has adjustable feet making her that little bit higher, the tray makes a good crumb catcher even if you are using it as a boostre at the table.

I hate to say it but my 13 month old hates the high chair too. Our kitchen table is always full, so my kids eat at a little picnic table. Baby thinks she is one of the big kids and climbs right up there with them. Can you just pull the high chair up to the table and leave the tray off.

I'd get the small table and chair for her. No personal experience, but I've heard others say that giving them that freedom actually helps them stay longer in the end. Toddlers are all about freedom and choices, so once she is no longer restrained, it may not be as much of a problem.

Isabelle's always been in a booster seat, she's never had a highchair. Definitely get one hun. She probably wants to copy what you do.

my lo has a booster seat which she has since about 14 months so she could sit up table with us

Lana has a small table and chair, she doesn't always sit but she goes back and forward to it and will eat as much or as little as she feels like, she often plays and goes back to her tea several times, I don't mind this at all, as long as she is eating in the end, that's my priority

my son had a booster ( still has) and a table and chairs his own size. I found apart from the dog taking his food off the table he could get up and walk off, i have found the booster seat much better, keeps him still long enough to eat something

Thanks girls!! We're going to try the booster seat first, and if that doesn't go so well we will go ahead and get the table and chairs. :)

you know it's a funny thing, Isabella hated the high chair, then moved on to baby travel high chair/booster seat (https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price...378907099&sr=8-4&keywords=travel+high+chair);
two weeks later she hated that too and moved on to her little chairs/table.
then to where we eat - at the counter.

Fast forward to 3,5 years old, at a restaurant she demands a high chair. She doesn't fit there at all and is ridiculously uncomfortable but nooooo.... now is that when we want a high chair!

I agree, try a booster seat:) My 13 month old loves his:)

We've recently ditched the high chair for a table & chair, LO loves it but will also get up and play around sometimes.

I just reinforce that he needs to sit down to eat, exactly the same way they do at his nursery, Patience is the key!
