Should I take the clomid this month?

Hi all,
I was on clomid January, February and March and did conceive in March but miscarried at about 7.5 weeks.
I got my period back in June about 6 weeks after the miscarriage and tried clomid for 2 more cycles, going up to 200.
I have my first ever appointment with the RE on Monday. Tomorrow would be cd5 for me. Since my first appt. is just a consultation, should I try the clomid one more month? Because I lost (and then later found) my clomid I actually have enough for about 150/day. I am thinking I should just go to the RE and stay off the clomid this month but then part of me wants to just take it for another month since I have it an see if the RE can just monitor me. I am leaning toward staying off the meds but want to know what you think/have experienced... ? Thanks in advance!

Hello

Personally I would wait to see the doc first. In the UK it is much more difficult to self prescribe and we are much more closely monitored so I would not take it without medical advice and support.

Not sure if that helps as it may not be relevant to your circumstances.

Hi have u had any tests or investigations before ? Just wondering what your history is. 200 seems like a very high dose to me. Over here they try to limit clomid to six months. You could try it this month but to be honest that might delay your fe in doing any further tests. Good luck anyway and you may find you ovualate without this month anyway x

I was told that Clomid when taken longer than 2-3 cycles can start to have the opposite effect, it will thicken your CM and thin your uterine lining, making it harder to concieve. I just had my appointment on the 26th, so it's still very fresh in mind.

I would be hesistant, personally. You RE may want to take additional blood tests or do other tests, and Clomid may influence the results. If you're worried (like as happens with me) that a non-Clomid cycle will take forever, you can mention that to the doctor. I know one month seems like an eternity, but if you wait and then get the right treatment, it may be worth it.

I decided against taking it, as tempting as it was.

My dr., er, now specialist thinks the problem was not helped by clomid because as an estrogen blocker, it assumes that fsh is doing its job but he believes my hypothalamus-pituitary-FSH isn't working correctly. In other words, I have "hypothalamic dysfunction." Apparently, my brain is not giving my body the right signals. Sometimes I ovulated, sometimes probably not, and sometimes just weak even if there, so it is as he said like y cycles are "on a dimmer", sometimes more robust and bright, other times, clomid or not, not so much.

The current gameplan: I got 5 vials of blood drawn. I go in Thursday (if they can get me in) for a hysterosalpingogram (uterine/tubal x ray w.dye). For some reason the dr. was clear I was to start treatments next cycle but when I scheduled the procedure with the nurse, she wasn't sure she could get me in, and that if not I'd have to wait until the following cycle and consequently wait like over 70 days probably. Plus, since it is my first month OFF of clomid, I hope that I have a normal cycle. Keep FX crossed for me!

Anyways, I am to do that procedure as well as meeting with my dr. for a Diagnostic ultrasound w/antral follicle count. I put in a message to the Dr. (one of the best by the way!) about making sure we get the injections started next cycle. He is using injections in order to go right to the ovaries and override the brain instead of trying to trick it, like with clomid. He did say he didn't see any reason I wouldn't be preggo for Thanksgiving, so I am sorta going to hold him to it!!

Great that your appointment went so well! The waiting is always terrible, but hopefully the doctor will be right! A baby by Thanksgiving would be super!
