Our little Halle is just over 9 weeks old, and I've started to notice that apart from when around me and dh she will rarely make eye contact with strangers and other family members, if she does, it will upset her and she ends up crying and fussing in general.

When on her own with me in particular she will coo at me and smile and generally act very happy with lots of interaction- she does this with dh too, though I guess not as much.

Is this something to worry about? I'm getting a little sick of having to explain to people that she does interact and smile and look me in the eye..... and everyone giving me crappy worried looks :dohh:

Could she be shy? Is this something to worry about? Just noticed other babies her age tend to give eye contact to most people around them....

I wouldn't worry. Your her whole world! She doesn't want to see anyone else!

If she's still doing it when she's 1year old, then maybe its a problem, but she's just a little bub, she just wants you. I think thats fine!

Jasper is 4 months old, but I think before the last month or so, he'd not look at anyone much.

My MIL made a bit of a comment about it, because no matter who was holding him, he'd never take his eyes off me and he wouldn't 'talk' to anyone else, he'd just follow me with his eyes! It was sweet!

Now he's a bit more interested in other people, but still... if I'm talking, no matter who has him, he watches me intently.

I completley agree with Chel, you are everything to her right now, she knows you, she's interested in you...other people not so much lol. Casen was so bad about it if anyone else touched him he would flip out. From the day he came home from the hospital until 7mo NO ONE besides me, not even daddy could touch him. Occasionally he would play with Mark (daddy) but only if he was in a really good mood. Mark would try to settle him and he would scream like he was being killed and as soon as I touched his sides to pick him up he was silent, everytime..from birth lol, everyone thought it was nuts. Atleast she doesn't do that right haha

Annabelle is a bit like that hun and she is 17 weeks, she doesnt cry though but she wont smile
she just looks really serious and sometimes had an embarassed looking face.
i thought maybe she was being shy.
if she is held by a man she soon gets unsettled but women once she had adjusted she laughs her head off

Thanks ladies, still no eye contact with strangers....maybe she is just shy... she's been super clingy lately though and won't even let me put her down for a nap! :dohh: She has also somehow found her way into our bed every night too....

God, I see trouble ahead! :hissy:
