sick of all these rules !! arggggggggg!

Completely out of control. I've been making my own decisions, I'm not drinking or smoking but I will have the occasional turkey sandwich and enjoy sitting out in the sunshine getting my tan on.

My favorite is when other moms lecture you - like you are not aware of the risks of unpasteurized cheese. How could I not be, we are inundated with it. So annoying haha!

I think we all feel this way. And so many contradictory things too. That is why I take a lot of it with a grain of salt and eat what I want within moderation.

its really depressing, it makes me think all i can eat is organic food, they even say tap water is a bad idea, then they say bottled water is bad because of chemicals in the plastic! They say lying on your back is bad and lying on your right can cause stillbirth yet they make you lie on your back at scans and mw apts! what is the world coming to. so basically gotta be on my left bedbound and eating organic food which is prob harmful too because of parisites lol, arggggg!

lol... this whole 'which side can i lay on' thing scares the living hell out of me! especially as im not the type of person who can go to bed, lay on my left and thats it... im asleep... i move about and fidget and basically ive taken to sleeping however the hell i can get to sleep because im so uncomfortable at the moment. you get conflicting information from different doctors about what you can and cant eat... what you can and cant do... blah blah. its all a bunch of poop! what are we supposed to do? sit in a chair and not move till we go into labour? they put you on your back when your pushing! aint that dangerous?!

GAH!

p.s you have the same pajamas as me :D lol

I went to pre-natal aqua aerobics on Saturday. After the class, which is taught by a midwife, one of the other girls was chatting about walking. The midwife actually said she shouldn't be walking for more than 15 minutes at a time, as she could get pelvic bone disease (or something or other). I mean come on, we both stood there and said, "well we walk our dogs for 2 hours a day!" Apparently 20 years ago that aws fine but not now. RIDICULOUS!!!!

LMAO! if that was the case we should all be signed off work the day we find out we are pregnant. what a divvy! i think its just the medical professionals covering their asses for every eventuality.

maybe we should start a campaign...

the ''Sod off we are pregnant not dying'' group lol

They are not rules, just risks.

And its common sense of how much of a risk certain things are. The odd glass of wine where you don't even feel tipsy, or a fresh piece of blue chese ready packaged from a supermarket and a runny egg are going to be low risk. Getting pissed everynight and smoking 20cigs a day and taking heroin are going to be more of a risk (obviously).

No heroin!? Well that just puts me over the edge!

:haha::haha:

I work admin for social services and after hearing about a case where a woman had taken street heroin along with methadone her entire pregnancy I thought... "F**k it, I'm eating the sushi I fancy".

Lol...you know I've been craving some fresh Tuna Steaks:winkwink:

i had this one customer at my work, who saw me eating a cup of noodles, turn to me and say"oh hunny that cannot be good for u or the baby" i responded, "listen, i know exactly what i need to do for me and my baby thanks"
im so fed up with ppl and their two sense in everything. I'll eat what i want thank you.

I just always think back to the days before they had all this modern technology and knew all of these "risk" for pregnant women - and we turned out just fine. Just use common sense when doing things and everything in moderation, your baby will be fine. My first pregnancy I was scared to death to have any caffeine whatsoever, and didn't except fo the occasional glass of pop when we went out to eat in the third trimester. This time around, I'm allowing myself more caffeine (have to to get through the day with a 3 year old lol), and baby is still just fine on ultrasounds and everything..... just try to relax and enjoy what you want :flower:

LMAO! i wont feel so guilty about the prawn salad i ate at lunch now!

Its just all the new modern technology we have today back in the day with our parents they ate whatever of course not raw food but just watch what can be risky in moderation . I feel like i starve myself not eating the things i ate before being pregnant ughhhhhhhh !

I honestly see/hear more about these 'risks' right here on BnB than I EVER hear from my doc... my doc said sushi is fine from a reputable place...she gave me the "babies are born in Japan, right...?" suggestion. Doc told me working out is fine, yerba mate is fine in moderate amounts, etc...

But it's usually HERE that I read/hear/am lectured about 'risks'.... and I go nutty!! Or with women who seem to have placed themselves in a bubble because they are sudden pregnant and an invalid.

Kinda' makes the women who have GENUINE conditions that DO put them on bedrest or at high-risk feel like idiots or like they have to explain themselves for having to do so, because so many perfectly healthy women think they can't do ANYTHING from the moment they get their BFP and make people roll their eyes....It's not fair to the women who truly do have to take extreme precautions due to specific conditions.

I tell ya', my hubby would go cuh-razy if I followed every 'rule' to the extreme while pregnant with a healthy pregnancy. Well, actually, so would I! A friend's mom said to me once, (and I loved it) "Pregnancy is a state of health, not a disease."

Use your instincts, and do your own research... you'll be juuuust fine. I've never heard of someone losing a pregnancy over a hot dog.

If I'm ever not sure about something or hear something new, I research it online (Yahoo Answers or another forum full of opinionated women like us doesn't count! LOL)

I get the opposite from my mom, I'm telling her all the stuff I "can't" have: had to expain listeria and why deli meat is the devil; she never had to worry about that. Then I say that I'm supposed to sleep on my left side so baby can get the most nutrients or whatever BS that is all about; she never had to worry about that. Raw eggs? God forbid! Back in her day they were served as part of caesar salads for crying out loud!

It's just like how back in the 60's men would be filling up their gas tanks while smoking because, apparently, in 1960 gas wasn't flammable..... I doubt many guys burst into flames and died at the gas station. My baby will not burst into flames and die if I smear feta on a piece of toast. But I just might. From the stress of it all! :dohh:

I really don't listen to a lot of the things.
I've traveled all over the world, and the rules are different in every country.
For example:
Women here in Japan eat gobs of raw fish (AND raw egg!), drink all sorts of green tea, and it has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world. AND Japan has the highest amount of old people! So who to believe? T_T. I mean really. It's obvious.
Women for centuries have been having babies without any help or guidance and they turn out fine.
Just ignore it unless it's obvious. (like meth, LOL)

Yep im working on the rules that drugs, smoking and bottles of vodka are out.

Everything else.....we're in!!! :)

im just gonna ignore these risks and use my own noggin lol
