Sick pandemic!?!

My OH was ill with sickness on monday and our 1 year old has got sickness and diarrhea. He hasn't eaten much since monday and only wants milk. Took him to the doctors yesterday and he has an ear infection too, poor babe :(

DS1 was throwing up 2 weeks ago and i've yet to catch it (fingers x'd)

Same here on Essex coast thankfully LO hasnt been il yet really dont want him to catch anything id rather get it.

Weve managed to skip tge sickness bug but instead me, LO and a few other peoples LOs i know have come down with chest infections all at the same time.

Well Jacob picked up properly tonight so probably sick for about 20hrs, he has had some tomato soup and garlic bread for his tea, ate it all and is now fast asleep, bless him, first time he has been sick and he didn't know what the heck was going on!!

We're in Liverpool, Paul's workmate went home sick today from work with the runs  and he was sick when he got home, his little lad has the same sickness bug and so do people in his class.

So it's really doing the rounds

It's the time of year for Norovirus and Rotavirus, extremely common as temeperature shifts happen, kids go back to school etc. It's highly infectious and with Noro you only have basic immunity for roughly 28 days so it's possible to catch it again quickly. We had it in November last year and again 8 weeks later.

Swansea , we all sick with it, one of the twins hasn't and it yet. Which seems very odd, but yeah, it's not nice.

Well I have a being sick phobia so this bug is like my worst nightmare.
We've just all got chest infections here at the moment but my dd came home from nursery the other day and said her friend threw up all over the classroom .. so I think the bug is about here

What's actually the different between rota virus and norovirus? What one is worse?

Rotavirus is usually what kids get, adults are usually immune because they've had it as a child. It causes severe diarrhea, sickness and fever. They are bringing out a vaccine for it in the UK next year i think.

Norovirus is a nasty virus, anyone can catch it and no one is immune. There is no vaccine for this yet. This is the virus that sees hospital wards and schools close. It can make people quite ill with sickness, diarrhea and stomach cramps.

You can prevent catching and spreading norovirus by washing your hands after using the toilet, before touching food and eating and by staying at home for at least 48 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea. Unfortunately most selfish people don't, hence why it spreads so quickly. :growlmad::dohh:

Im pretty sure I have an immunity to noro. The nurses really rarely get it unless its a new nurse & their first year!

I've heard so many times that you can't be immune but this gives me some hope. (i'm terrified of catching norovirus)
