side effects of fertility treatments?

Ok I know this is something that no one wants to talk about, but I've been hearing through friends of some women who went through IVF and it had consequences when they got pregnant (I don't want to scare anyone so I won't say what they are)

But I'm just wondering, are there significant increases in side effects for the child if you do fertility treatments? My Dr never tells me anything. I've done IUI and they don't mention a word. But I would like to know if any of your ladies know of something so I can at least go into my next treatment with full knowledge. Thank you!

I read an online article recently that there is a 10% chance of birth defects for icsi. Also increased chance of miscarriage with ivf. Not sure what the stats are tho. I guess most people just hope for the best and try not to think of this side of treatment. x
