Had my 37 (almost 38) week check up today. Went to do my routine pee in a cup, and my undies were soaked... So she tested it, and its just mucus, no fluid. She checked my cervix too and said I'm 1cm and cervix is very soft. Well, I came home, 2 hours after my check, have a bowel movement and when I wiped there was a significant amount of bright red blood. Looking down between my legs it was kind of dripping out of me. What was on the TP had some stringy mucus mixed in, but I guess from what I've heard, I wouldnt have said it was my plug. It was just a lot of blood it seemed...especially when I didnt even have any spotting when they checked me last week. Last week I wasnt dialated at all, and my cervix was hard. Could the dialation and softening have made things so much more sensitive that I bled this time? I called thr Dr, and she said to monitor it and make sure baby is still active, but bleeding after an exam is normal. Anyone experience something similar? Mallory is still moving all around, so I'm not too worried, but seeing blood makes me a little nervous.

Thanks ladies!!!

With my first, I had a good amount of blood after my first internal... I had to wear a panty liner for the day. I don't remember the follow checks to be so bloody. But definitely sounds like things are progressing down there :flower:

Unsure about your bleeding. In the UK they do notmost plugs are a sno do internals to reduce the risk of infection. Most plugs are similar to snotty mucus that can have streaks of blood in. If it is your plug it could be the internal has dislodged it. You can lose your plug up to two weeks before labour starting. Although from everything I have been told what you have described if that happened here the hospital would call us in just to check all ok. Brigh. Red blood would need to be checked.

I am sure all is ok though. X

Not sure either. I'd get checked if it doesn't stop. Wish I could help more. Oh...when I had an internal at 30 weeks (with speculum), I bled red for the day, but it wasn't a ton. They said it was normal though.

I called my Dr. and she said it was normal after the internal and to monitor it... She did use a speculum. I guess to me the amount seemed significant, because it was more than just streaks in mucus. I'll see if I still have it the next time I use the bathroom. Hoping it will be gone!

i never had it dripping to me that sounds a bit much? :/ hope you are ok hun xx

I think it was dripping mixed with urine, mucus (its been very watery lately), and lube from the speculum. Mallory is still moving all around, but I've been have a lot of contractions now. So maybe she jump started something digging around in there.

maybe your little one will make an appearance soon!

As soon as I started to dilate I would have quite a bit of bleeding after an internal. My doctor saw it as soon as he pulled his finger out and told me to expect bleeding. It wasn't heavy like a period, but it was bright red, and then switched to brown spotting for the next few days after that. It didn't happen when my cervix was still closed. Hope everything is ok, but it sounds normal to me! Good you checked with your dr though! :)

Thank you for sharing this! It definitely makes me feel more at ease. I used to bleed from a pap smear, so it doesn't surprise me as I dialate and my cervix softens that I would bleed easily. I still am having cramping/contractions this evening. Nothing I'd consider painful, just kind of uncomfortable. The bleeding seems to have stopped now, and she's still wiggling away. Thank you for the reassurance StranjeGirl!!
