So I'm from the US and I know most on the site are not.

So my question is how good is your american accent? Why you may wonder am I asking this. Well my OH was to sound like pirate for some strange and well sounded Russian. A very bad Russian accent, but it sounded more like that then a pirate.

And I wont lie we try different accents, none of which are good so was wondering if you do the same thing with American or other accents and which is the hardest to do.

I'm Canadian lol and I think there are a few types of American accent.. there's Southern, New York??, and one in the Midwest... can't think of any others I've heard off the top of my head, I don't notice one when people from California are speaking lol so maybe we just have the same accent as them lol...

Anywho I'm crap at any type of accent except like Eastern European ones.. when I put it on people always ask me if I'm from various countries in that area lol

LOL! I have wondered the same thing! I suck at all accents! I have a strong southern accent so me trying to talk like other people is just well hilarious!

lol, tasha you are correct there are different ones, theres like Brooklyn/new jersey type accents, southern, and well the basic american one i guess you'd call it, there is Cajun too but that isn't well known and sounds super weird to me.

I was watching a video of two british girls trying to do an american accent and they didn't know what soda was. and to me that was funny. and were complaining about the whole crisp/chip/fry thing. lol giggled there too. and was reading a thing on fml.com about a person whos cousin came to visit over in that area and was saying that something didn't fit cause her fanny was to big and had to go explain that over there fanny is vagina. lol i lmao good times.

I'm pretty good at accents and I have to say the easiest to do are English and American, simply because we hear them on the tv all the time. I can do either a generic american accent or a southern one, but I wouldn't know the differences between cities or states

Im rubbish, no atter what accent i try to do i always sound the same

Im not bad at southern amaerican. But not northern.

I can do a good southern English accent and scottish

Im from Newcastle and we speak Gerodie up here.

TBH hadly anyone can do a gerordie accent well. Its really quite hard

I'm from Canada and s we try to speak in the southern accents as a joke but we can't fully pull it off. Brittish? forget it! I suck at it. Yeah and soda is not common here either, we just say pop, coke etc.

I have the "normal" American accent and I've tried all the other ones (New York, Southern, etc) and I can't do them at all! lol

I'm terrible at trying to put on any accent!

i'm good at speaking the accent of where i currently am at that time but putting it on to make fun of some people's accents, i am not so good at! :haha:

I pick up accents fast though but tend to mix them all together, just like DH ;)

Yeah the part of america i'm from we call soda pop, soda is more down south.

I live in Oregon, but I am from Boston. My accent comes and goes. It's weird! I will talk to someone on the phone from Mass, and it will come back heavy, then slowly goes away. My friends always notice it.
I suck at the Russian accents too btw!!!

I always fake a southern accent as a joke with DH. :haha: I'm from Ohio originally and I just have a typical accent I guess. I don't think I even have an accent.

Also, I call it pop too.

I am a member of a local theatre. many years ago, we entered a one act lay into a local drama festival. It was set in New York. When it came to judging, the judges all agreed that although they felt in general the accents were good, they found one girls American accent so bad that they actually marked us down a bit - until we pointed out, that she was actually a native of New York, and that it was everyone elses accents that were bad!!

hahaha i'm from california so I don't think I have an 'accent' lol but one of my old boyfriends was from Boston and I still keep in touch with all of his family....and when i've been talking to them I find i've picked it up and now some of the words or phrases have stuck with me. I say wicked a lot and Caaar. When I was on the East coast his family told me to fit in I had to learn "park my car in harvard yard" It's hard to explain on the internet but if you know east coast you will know what i'm talking about lol.

I think I can do a good american accent but I have a feeling it doesn't sound as good IRL as it does when I'm saying it :haha:

Last month my sister went on holiday to the USA and for a month before she went, we only spoke to eachother with an american accent
