Hi Ladies

Has anyone got the silver cross (ventura) car seat and small car(VW POLO) ????

We do!! - and today we thought we'd try seeing how to fit it etc and MOG it was total hell, it has no base and needs to be rear facing and we have some serious issues with it!!

1 The seatbelt isn't long enough to secure the carseat properly
2 The car in the back is so small that the driver or passenger has to have their seat sooooooo far forward its impossible to drive!!
3 It just isn't safe and moves alot when it evntually fitted in (although you'd never be able to put car seat in with baby in, you'd need to put car seat in first than add your LO which just ins't practical)

Anyone experience this????

What shall we do??

New car or new car seat??

:cry::cry::cry:

We've got the same car seat, little 3 door Peugeot. I agree, it doesn't feel secure, but I'm not confident we're putting it in right. I'm taking it to baldness to see what they think, they have a fitting service there that might be some help to you as well : )

Could you get a seat belt extender? Would that help hun?

I was put off the Silver Cross car seat after reading reviews that it was quite big and bulky, we've got the Silver Cross Surf pushchair. In the end we went for the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix car seat cos you can get adapter clips so you can use it on the pram. Could you take it back and swap it? And maybe try a new one in the car before you buy?

Hope you get it sorted hun :)

Hi, we have got the car seat (as it goes with the pram) and bigger cars eg Megane and a Discovery it doesn't fit in the Discovery and fits in the Megane but have the same problem with the seats the OH will not be able to be a passenger in my car as its to far forwards for him, but okay for me.

But we have been out and bought a maxi-cosi cabio car seat and it fits in both cars, (the woman at mothercare said that if you punch the seats head rest when its in the car and it doesn't move you will be safe, as it was imitating an impact of 30mph)

we have a gold and havnt had problems with the seat belt but you can buy extenders. we used the seat with imogen nad will be with this one too. its fiddly to fit at first but you get the knack of it quickly. you put the carry bar down to its resting on the seat which i felt made it even more sturdy with movement backwards and forwards, but it does move slightly from side to side if moving it, but with a baby in it it actually moves less with the extra weight. i was looking to see if they have brought out an isofix yet, ive seen a couple on bits on the net where they say its coming out this month but nothing on the actual silver cross site. if its going in the back then the front seat does have to move forward a bit in ours, it is a bigger than average car seat but its quite handy for us as LO is pettite and still within the weight range for it so we can use it as a back up for now lol. if its going in the front seat (we did this until buying a proper car seat a few month back and had our airbag disabled when she was born) we put the seat as far back as it will go as it said to do this in instructions. overall i really like it, but an isofix for it would be handy lol. xxx

Yeah i found it hard to get in the back of my car, the passenger seat had to be shoved right forward and the seatbelt just fit around it, although when i got it fastened in it did feel secure.

Im trying to sell my car at the moment for a bigger one so hoping it'll be a lot easier to fit when i have a 5 door car. I don't see how i would be able to put it in with the baby already in the seat though

I had this with my last baby, hated the thing. Even when you do get the knack of putting it in, it's still tedious and time consuming and I hated the fit. I always felt it didn't fit right and should have been more secure. You have to take the hood out of the slot every time you fit it.

I didn't find it heavy or bulky but with this baby there was no way I was going to deal with that again.

Oh no. We have a discovery too, its a 51 plate. and an MG something or other and a Peugot though thats not on the road atm.

Might take it down babies r us to see how its done then with the lrd as they said they would do it for us when I bought it. I dont want to change the pram though so thats not an option, neither is swapping the car. We do have another car seat though so its not a huge problem but I did want it for the convenience, that was the idea of having the travel system

I have a 3 door polo and the staff at Mothercare tried to fit it in but the seatbelt was too short. We also have a Honda Civic which my husband drives and it fits in there so looks like we will be swapping car
