Hello everyone! When my lo was born the dr commented on him only having one line on his hand. We didnt pay much attention as his hand was so small, but no that he is a little older we can clearly see that he only has one line were most ppl have 2! He has this on both hands which apparently only 4% of Caucasians have this! So does anyone elses los have this and anyone no what it means?

Heres a piccy:

Hi bana, my LO has this on both hands too. it can be ONE indicator of several genetic disorders, but if you Dr has not said any thing or shown no cause for concern then don't worry about it. It can also run in families, and palm readers believe its a sign that the person will achieve great things.

Here's to our great boys!!!

One of my brothers has it - we only ever used to make up childish meanings to tease him ;)

cool so maybe he will take over the world, mohahahaha!

On a serious note, the docs avnt sed anything yet but hes not that old so we will see! Ill re-mention it on tue as is his next check up. Its weird ive neva heard or seen it before my lo! x

How weird!! I was just talking to my OH and said "oh look this girls wee boy only has one line going across his hand" and when I looked at his hand...so does he!!!! He has never thought anything of it! How weird!! Im gonna have to check Brandons hands tomorrow!! x x x

What ever u do, dont google it! Its gotton me all worried now! Damn i hate google :nope:

Apparently ppl who have a simian line can be extremely agreeable and easy to get on with, but once their minds are made up, it is impossible to change them. They are inflexible, obstinate, and stubborn. Because the heart line (emotions) and head line (logic) are intertwined, these people find it extremely hard to express their feelings and have highly intense and complex emotional lives.

If the simian crease is found only on the minor hand (the left hand if the person is right-handed) the person will have had a sheltered upbringing and will try to avoid responsibility.

When found on the major hand, the person will be single-minded, hard-working achiever. However, he or she will also find it difficult to relax and take time off.

When found on both hands, the person will be unusually stubborn and rigid. This can create major difficulties, and people with it need careful direction and guidance from their parents from an early age. The enormous single-mindedness these people possess can be usefully utilized in sporting activities, and in a career that requires precision and little input from others.

People with a simian crease on both hands sometimes find it hard to distinguish right from wrong. Consequently, the person could become a master criminal, or, with a slightly different upbringing, someone who helps humanity in some way.

The simian crease is usually found in the hands of Down’s syndrome sufferers. However, most people with it are perfectly normal and are usually highly intelligent.

Any of this relate to yr OH? Just out of interest?

Some of that definitely sounds like my OH!! He is VERY agreeable and easy to get on with! One of those "anything for a quiet life" sort! And he does find it hard to express his feelings!

And he is a master criminal :winkwink:only joking!!

I just find it so weird that I went to tell him about this and then he has it! LoL hes all chuffed for some reason!! x x x

Sorry, and dont worry about it! If your doctor hasnt raised and cause for concern then dont worry about it! My OH is completely fine!! x x x

ive got simian creases on both of my hands.i think if it was anything to worry about it would be apparent at birth. I'm quite proud of my creases and they have never affected my life. I am a microbiologist so doing well :-)

My 7 month old son has one :-) one hand like mummys, one hand like daddys. Here if you have any questions. xx

Didnt expect so many ppl to have it or no ppl who have it! Im def guna go and run on the lines of hell go onto do something great! Muhammad Ali had it to, not that i want him 2b a boxer!

no, no. no don't google it!!!! It messes with your head!!!! If there was anything genetically wrong you would know... it would be visible in his face, the way he holds his limbs etc. My half brother is severely handy caped and has single palm creases, but you could tell when he was born that there was some thing not quite right. My gran also has single palm creases and she's as normal as they come.... xx

Both our boys look fine to me. xx

i remember the health visitor mentioning that Zander had the two creases and sometimes if there is only one it can be an indicator of different disorders. but the fact your docs haven't said anything sounds like your wee man is just one in a million lol x

re-opening quite an old thread.. my baby daughter has a very prominent simian line on her right hand, no-one else in our families have it, i too made the mistake of googling it (bad idea) ... facinating nontheless :D

Hello, thanks for your post. I have a 8 week old baby boy, born with simian crease on one hand. Our doctor hasn't raised any concerns with his development to date, however my partner has been compelled to research further information.

Since this post when your son was the 7 mo, have you noticed anything unusual with your son's phisical and mental development?
